Note Of Support For Police Sent Our Way

There is a lot of rhetoric about police out there right now despite the fact that we've asked our blog community and the word back we've heard is support more police on Kansas City streets in order to keep the peace and stand against cuts to the KCPD in order to sustain the City Hall development agenda.

Accordingly, and because a local police detective was recently killed in the line of duty, this note was sent our way and it's worth sharing and a moment of reflection today . . .

“Dear officer, I want you to know that I see you. I see you choose the booth in the restaurant that allows you to have your back against the wall. I see you walking to your next traffic stop while you hope that it isn’t your last. I see you pulled over, two hours past your shift, as you finish your reports under a street light. I see you as you direct traffic in the scorching heat, the gusting snow, and the downpour of rain. I see you being filmed every time you try to do your job. I see that you are tired. I see that you are frustrated and misunderstood. I see that you are hurting as the world watches you bury your brothers and sisters that die because they were guilty of one thing; wearing a uniform and a badge. I see you. I see that you are flesh and bones just like me. I see that you are a human being who has a heart that beats for your calling to serve and protect. I see your cause and I want you to know that I appreciate it.” – author unknown

You decide . . .

  1. Dear officer and author of this bullshit...do your fucking job. Nothing special about that. Do it above average and with some precision and then I'd be likely to acknowledge you as otherworldly...but that day has not come...in more than 30 years for me. What are you waiting on? Time is not forever.

    3. 1:05 and wait 30 minutes on hold and another 4-6 hours for the police to arrive. Haven't called them since the last 6 hour wait. Nothing ever comes from their visits but higher insurance because I called them. Fuck yoi, sir! I have already been screwed by the police.

  3. The safety and welfare of the average American officer is compromised solely by the continuing refusal of administrative personnel to do their jobs. Law enforcement wisdom has always said that "birds of a feather flock together", while common-law sages have insisted that we are judged by those with whom we stand, unless the topic is police. Failure of administrative personnel to remove badges from those using them as shields for criminal actions leaves the victimized public unable to discern those good men doing nothing, simply obscured behind a symbol that now stands for abuse instead of honor. Recent media reports include police officers accused and/or convicted of murder, manslaughter, rape, sexual abuse of children, theft and conspiracy, all exposed and then defended by the brotherhood. Only the brotherhood can change that.

  4. God bless every one of these brave citizens in our midst. These men and women seem to have a calling, a vocation, to be the ones who care for those who don't.
I support the blue brigade. Thanks for being there when we need you the most.

  9. Fuck all this John Wayne horse shit. I'd be happy to see cops doing their job instead of dodging the tough areas and serving as fundraisers for the city.

  10. well ,one things for sure and most people know this..its not a perfect world where everything just works right out for you all of te fucking time. there are times when it does ,times when it does not.same thing when dealing with police , its just another part of life that works out for the good usually, but not always..were all human.there is no such thing as PERFECT , but its the best system we have .perhaps move to a different country and try theirs out? all of us are human .all of us get tired and overwhelmed and frustrated, pissed off..deal with it or dont. in other words-- like it or lump it.

but please just quit being a whiney pussy, huh?
