Kansas City Memorial Day Fact Check: Vietnam Vet Park Is Mostly Dangerous And Trashy Westport Homeless Hangout!!!
Today was filled with a great deal of high-minded talk about sacrifice and memories of the fallen. Because this blog is dedicated to providing an alternative perspective on all things Kansas City . . . Here's just a simple fact check to all the hype.
ALMOST EVERY OTHER DAY OF THE YEAR THE VIETNAM VETERANS MEMORIAL NEAR WESTPORT IS FILLED WITH HOMELESS!!!
To be fair and just for another fact check . . . The nation's homeless are still comprised by a great many veterans despite some recent efforts to curb this troubling trend. Still, even a cursory look on Midtown streets will reveal that many people have fallen through the cracks.
And so, tribute ceremonies are nice but probably don't reveal the reality of lives for veterans plagued by mental difficulties or the poor of Kansas City who have mostly been forgotten.
You decide . . .
Be fair TKC, most parks in Kansas City are homeless hangouts.
ReplyDeleteI think something more productive would've been a a list of resources for homeless veterans. Let's focus on the positive.
ReplyDeleteKC does a lot more for homeless veterans than any other city. That is a reality check to this post.

Here's a positive to focus on:
ReplyDeleteThis is the first time Tony has posted a true story in 6 or 7 years!
The medical weed research was performed here at the Kansas city VA
ReplyDeleteKansas City Parks are dirty, dangerous places. The police do nothing to prevent homeless camps. They respond slowly if at all to any crime in the parks.
ReplyDeleteI always give free blowjobs to our vets on Memorial Day at that park! Look me up boys, I swallow!!!
ReplyDeleteThat park has always been a hangout for homeless. As far back as 1996.
ReplyDeleteRan into John Rambo at that Westport homeless spot. He's pissed. But thankfully he's leaving Kansas City. Walking on down the road.
ReplyDeletelolz on the Rambo image
ReplyDeleteFake Byron for the win!
ReplyDeleteI am a veteran.
ReplyDeleteYou are cowards.
I too, am a veteran; however, you are still an asshole.
ReplyDeleteProve you're a vet troll boy!
ReplyDeleteI suspect that there are a lot more bums claiming to be veterans than really are veterans. Veteran status makes it more likely that they'll get a handout, and nobody checks a DD 214 before handing over a couple bux.
ReplyDeleteIt's a very sad situation and like a lot of things, it all starts at home with teaching families to value their own and people who've sacrificed for others.
ReplyDelete^^^ Agree.
