CELEBRATE KANSAS CITY RUCKUS & CINCO DE MAYO TRUMP TACO BOWL TONITE!!!

Let's face it . . . Donald Trump pretty much owns the American discourse until November.

Example, the TRUMP TACO BOWL attempt to lure Latinos broke the Internets today . . .

Meanwhile, this bit of Kansas City discourse attempts to compete and we're posting this from a crappy bar on Southwest Blvd and there, most likely, won't be another update until LATE tomorrow afternoon.

In the meantime, here's what the chattering class in Kansas City has to say . . .Checkit:

"Mike Shanin interviews Executive Director of the American Jazz Museum Cheptoo Kositany-Buckner. Then, Mary Anne Murray Simons, Jason Grill, Steve Mirakian and Patrick McInerney discuss the next step in the debate over KCI's future as Sly James announces there will be no public vote this year, the launch of the streetcar and George Will's column calling for Republicans to defeat Donald Trump."

Take a look:

Cinco de Mayo especial . . .

Blood in, Blood Out: Bound By Honor might be the worst Chicano (or any other) movie ever produced but strangely contains the greatest line in Latino history since "I don't have to show you any stinkin' badges."

Here's an hour post-modern remix of the EPIC phrase that still holds up after all these years:

YOU DECIDE . . .

Comments

  1. Very disappointed that Mike missed his chance to wear a sombrero today. Also, the airport comments were ALMOST completely out of line with anything resembling public opinion. This is an issue where supporters of Sly slowly realize that they don't have as much pull as they once did. Just a bunch of consultants really.

  9. WELCOME TO CINCO DE MAYUCKUS

....that weekly comida for thought fight over the noticias del día and the trends of the time.

    INTERVIEW
Cheptoo Kositany-Buckner, Exec. Director American Jazz Museum $20 bucks says that's a wig, or my mind is syncopating like Miles Davis in Bitches Brew.

    PANEL
Do I need to remind anyone that, but once a year, KCPT mandates the MAYUCKUS panel must include 3 Democrats to 1 Republican/Libertarian? Because, what good are the airwaves to Liberals if not for broadcasting their political propaganda.

Jason Grill -- Parris Communications advisor For the uninitiated, please recall that Roshann Parris got her start in D.C. working on behalf of Israeli issues. She LOVES the Clintons, and formerly campaigned for Mondale-Ferraro, Dukakis-Bentsen, Clinton/Gore. Fun trivia: Did you know that Jason Grill took campaign donations from Rex Sinquefield when running for the Missouri House? Haha! It's true, but don't tell the Democrat crowd he hangs out with.

Mary Anne Murray Simons -- freelance writer and consultant Wasn't she just on 2 weeks ago? Oh that's right, I guess Tony or someone with strong original opinions are never available for this program!

Patrick McInerney -- attorney with Dentons, and former $65,000 counsel to Mayor James in his personal tax delinquency.

Steve Mirakian -- attorney in group practice Whew! I guess it's safe to muddle through another episode, as Mirakian is sure to save the day single-handedly.

SYLVESTER JAMES IS NOT A STRONG MAYOR
Mayor clips his own wings and returns to the hangar for de-icing! McInerney dons rose-colored glasses and opines that 2017 should be lift-off for this boondoggle....keeps repeating the lie that it's FREE! Grill says they should have scheduled a vote in November. Mirakian reports the fact that the public doesn't believe it won't involve taxpayer funds, the airlines won't pass through their costs to passengers, and that they're tired of BOONDOGGLE projects that cost too much and accomplish little. Should we quit now on a high note? Shanin quotes Mayor James' previous threatening words that "if we miss this opportunity it will be gone for years"....and the Democrats scramble to spin a new message that James was "prudent" to stop the project! Give me a break!!

  10. STREETCAR: TRIUMPH OR FAILURE?
Grill touts the false narrative of streetcars as economic development engines. Grill begins to wilt upon Shanin's commonsense questioning, so McInerney jumps in to tag-team Shanin. MAM Simons thinks hard and reports that "time will tell" and oh yeah, she agrees with what Grill and McInerney said. Mirakian's wisdom is finally called upon, and while it's currently a novelty act, if it does eventually expand it could be useful. As it currently exists, it is A SHORT RIDE TO NOWHERE! I ask again dear reader....should we quit now on a high note? Wait!! Shanin retorts that he'll write a screenplay "A DESIRE NAMED STREETCAR" Nicely done, Mike Shanin!

    WILL GEORGE WILL TRUMP?
Shanin must idolize columnist George Will for as many mentions as he gives the guy on this program. Mirakian, no fan of Trump at all, spells doom come November for Team Trump and the Senate. Grill asks, then why did Trump wrap up the nomination? Mirakian explains the Angry Electorate phenomenon. Shanin admits that everyone on Ruckus (including himself) incorrectly predicted that Trump would not win the nomination...so exactly why should people watch this program? Haha! McInerney pipes in "divisive, racist, misogynistic", apparently thinking the conversation had shifted to Hillary....I kid!! McInerney, sensing a Republican who's already admitted he hates Trump, can't resist piling on, and starts throwing out Sarah Palin disparaging remarks! To finish up, Mike Shanin actually asks Democrats why Ted Cruz wasn't likeable enough! WTF?

To summarize the 2016 Democratic Nominee, Hillary Clinton, let me turn to Patrick McInerney quoting his friend Lindsey Graham...."JERKS DON'T WIN!!!!!" So there you have it my friends, a rather dismal episode of CINCO DE MAYUCKUS, where even the lone Republican tossed fuel upon the Trump bonfire this week. And to think that last week's show had been the best in some time! Back to the Liberal monotonous grind!
