TKC BREAKING NEWS!!! KANSAS CITY TRANSIT ACTIVIST CLAY CHASTAIN LATEST LIGHT RAIL PETITION NEARLY COMPLETE!!!

Surprisingly irritable (for a Friday) Pitch newsie Steve Vockrodt questions Mr. Chastain: "Is your petition approved as to form and legality?"

No answer yet but here's the progress on the latest endeavor from Clay so far. Checkit:

Clay Chastain: Light rail petition moves forward with 75% of needed signatures already collected

75% of the needed signatures to place a new light rail petition before voters have already been collected. Here are some of the reasons KCMO voters are signing in support of that light rail petition slated to be placed before voters on the presidential ballot in November:

1. Voters know Kansas City is 30 years behind the rest of American cities in modernizing its public transportation system around a rapid, citywide and zero-emission light rail system that will not only get people to jobs and most major destinations across Kansas City (without it taking 3 buses and 3 hours to get there), but will also reduce transportation costs, sprawl, the need for more parking garages and asphalt parking lots, air pollution, traffic congestion, and lost time sitting in traffic.

2. Voters know that the city's downtown streetcar line (it goes no where and no where fast), is a waste of money and pointless in terms of improving transit and helping people get to jobs.

3. Voters know that if a city is to grow and prosper it must have as a major selling point a comprehensive and first class public transit system that is quick, quiet, green, convenient, and attractive to everyone.

4. Voters know that (unlike the city's current projects that favor wealthy developers and the elite... new airport, new convention hotel, and Mayor James' "Touristy Frou Frou" streetcar line, etc.), a vast improvement to the city's pathetic public transportation infrastructure will directly benefit everyday citizens and their quality of life.

5. Voters know that the government of Kansas City (which over turned a light rail vote and blocked a light rail vote) despises petitions because they cannot control them and because petitions challenge the government's stupid self-serving leadership which too often defers to wealthy and special interests over the people's interests.

To make Kansas City great again we must make it a city for the people again. A great light rail -based public transportation system will catapult that aim forward.

Clay Chastain...Kansas City community activist, helped save Union Station from demolition, lived in the urban core of KCMO for 20 years, is currently a registered KCMO voter, and is now a dual resident of Bedford,Virgina and Kansas

  1. You'd be irritable too if your employer couldn't even pay its bills anymore.

The Pitch owes The Star something around $400K, I hear.

    There's some news, niggerlover.

  2. The timing of this will work out swell because it will be about the same time that Jeffy Roe will be heading back to KC with semi-trucks full of the cash that he made off the Cruz/Hindenburg debacle. With so much cash, Jeffy plans to provide free campaign management to Clay.

    Everyone needs a hobby, right?

  4. I'd rather see him getting recall petition signatures to recall Sly.

  5. Clay Chastain and Byron Fuckeduphouser should worry about wtf is going on in THEIR neighborhoods, not here in KC.

Virginia isn't for Lovers, it is for whacked out, narcissistic, self absorbed loons.

  6. The only way light rail will ever make sense is if it runs along highways at high speed like other cities do. They need dedicated rail lines for it. The streetcar extension will never make sense if it has to compete with cars, pedestrians, bicycles, buses and streetlights.

  7. Everyone calm down. We can build an above ground system of sky lifts much moreeconomical than tracks.

  10. 3:01 - G.E.N.I.U.S.!!!!!!

KC got the cutesy choochie for a 2.2 mile boondogledy waste of resources. How many solar panels or efficiencies to gubmint buildings could have been invested in honest to goodness, meaningful R.O.I.s? Yup, lipstick on a pig!

  11. The difference between Slys toy train and Clays plan is the toy train exists.

Didn't Clay promise to quit KC politics? Maybe it's like the SMARTKC/CFRG/Stadler magical mystery bus plan...
