The Kansas City Board Of Elections is undergoing upheaval behind the scenes and it could impact upcoming elections according insiders from our KICK-ASS TKC BLOG COMMUNITY.
Here's the news about the mechanics of voting in Kansas City that other media outlets have yet to report.

Ms. Thomas couldn't be reached for comment at the time of this writing but word of this move has caused concern among the local Democratic elite.
"Like it or not, we're losing an advocate for Democrats at a crucial time. She wasn't much of an advocate and a lot of people disagreed with how she performed her job duties. But it's one of the most important posts in Kansas City when we're talking about voters and elections . . ."
Furthermore . . . This resignation comes after Kansas City voters were exceedingly frustrated after primary elections where long lines and software glitches thwarted voters and caused major delays.
To be fair, Ms. McThomas has a great many fans in local political and civic circles, she is regarded by many as a pioneer in Kansas City Democracy and she has done a great deal of work in advocating voting rights.
Nevertheless . . . The reality of this upcoming vacancy on the KCEB means that Democrats will be without one of their most experienced supporters when upcoming elections are expected to be the most divisive in recent American history.

ReplyDeleteWhat happened at the primaries was unacceptable. The turnout was less than 30 percent and the Kansas City polls were crushed.
ReplyDeleteWe need to start investing more in elections board all over Missouri. It's just too important of a job to leave to some people who couldn't operate an ipad correctly.
I will agree about one thing, this next election is going to be contested in every part of the nation. You've got more republicans signing up to vote and turnout will be high again.
If we don't get ready for a contested ballot next time around. KC elections will be in bad shape for years to come.

ReplyDeleteThe Kansas City Election Board should be abolished given that there is already a Jackson, Clay and Platte County election boards that services every other city in their respective counties. This is just another mini bureaucracy financed by tax payers. It is past time for government to start trimming the fat.
