My guess is the excuse is they were new from a majority black neighborhood and now there is a white suburb. Culture shock and they had a hard time fitting in a more well off area. Their lawyer will say when they went anywhere in LS they got stairs, store clerks harassing them, making them feel unwelcome. They did it because LS is racist.
