TKC MUST SEE!!! AMID 36% KANSAS CITY HOMICIDE SPIKE POLICE OFFER HISTORICAL CONTEXT FOR MURDER STATS!!!

The level of Kansas City violence and murder has skyrocketed over the past 12 months and killing is up in this town by at least 36% year to date.

Violent crime and murder have increased so dramatically that even public television is taking notice and eating at Subway is a risky proposition for reasons beyond the legacy of Jared.

Accordingly . . .

SEEMINGLY IN ORDER TO AVOID PANIC, KANSAS CITY POLICE ATTEMPT TO PUT LOCAL HOMICIDE IN A HISTORICAL PERSPECTIVE DESPITE THE STATISTICALLY SIGNIFICANT RECENT UPTICK IN KILLING!!!

For those who haven't seen it yet . . . Here's the violent crime presentation from KCPD . . .

Violent Crime in Kansas City: 1960-2015

First a view of the beginnings of the local crime problem . . .

Data about the historic uptick in KC killing . . .

Then, the document notes the drug war and surveillance/intelligence policing as stats trend downward over the years.

There's no mention of statistical reconsideration of the numbers and new UCR designations that don't list some "justifiable" local murders.

The so-called good news . . .

A few thoughts . . .

Time and again, police point to the early 90s and late 80s when locals lament the current number of homicides . . . TKC insight on this rhetorical tactic  . . .

CLAIMING THAT CURRENT MURDER NUMBERS AREN'T AS BAD AS THE DAYS OF A NATIONWIDE GANG AND DRUG EPIDEMIC ISN'T EXACTLY REASSURING!!!

And again, police readily admit that the stat collection process has changed over the years.

However . . .

Like it or not, Kansas City is undergoing a homicide spike and there has been little in the way of solutions proposed by any elected official beyond real estate deals and tax break schemes.

Meanwhile, KC is more concerned with development, discount housing, the presidential election and more e-tax cash than all the dead bodies that keep turning up on local streets year after year.

Developing . . .

  1. I think that the answer to this would be that earnings tax funds police and other first responders who help the fight against crime.

  2. Forte keeps talking about 1993. Please provide the numbers that cont homicides the same way. Under his "leadership" he redacted police and other justified homicides. Go back through the last couple of decades and compare the numbers. I bet one would find that under his management crime has remained the same or increased.

    1. Yep, that ignorant son of a bitch wants to infuse 1993 as if 25 years ago is still relevant today. Everything since 1993 has changed except his solutions for violence. This is what you get when you appoint people to leadership positions because of their skin color.

  4. Just over a year ago, Sly, Forte', and the rest of the KC NoVa gang were holding press conferences claiming great successes for their latest out-of-town program.
Now, after starting 2016 with 11 murders in the first 22 days,it's time for fun with numbers, doctored statistics, and graphs.
And, as usual, adding yet more "programs" and "organizations" like Mothers in Charge to the already endless list of folks on the "anti-crime" payroll.
The vast majority of homicides in KCMO take place in a 50 square-block area, so comparing ratios of murders per 100,000 residents is really irrelevant.
And the folks who continue to suffer the consequences of poor leadership on the east side and a lack of courage to address the facts, take much more assertive police action, and round up the minority of people who continue to ruin neighborhoods, families, and lives, are the regular hard-working people who live there who simply want to live their lives and raise their families.
And those who can move continue to do so.
And the east side population continues to decrease.
And the murders/100K ratios become more irrelevant.
How's Sly's new trough of unaccountable taxpayer money coming?

  5. Almost all of the criminal activity 20 to 50 years ago was confined to KCMO. Much of the inner city has emptied out into suburbs which should have made policing easier in the city where the population has dwindled. Compare crime rates from 1990 to 2015 and include Raytown, Grandview, KCK and KCMO and you will see a substantial increase.

Claiming success for declining crime rates when most of the decline was due to population decline is a lie only a politician can make.

  6. 7:20 is correct, during the 80's and mid 90's Due to drugs and turff.
Now due to gentrification all the crime is previlant in the old kcmo suburbs..the reasons still tbe same drugs and turf.
I'll take millennial evangelical moving into midtown over gang and drug trafficking any day REJOICE! !

  7. Those damn homicidal white people getting froggy over Nascar again! It seems like all it takes is a line at H&R Bloch at tax season to get them to kill each other. White on white crime is a problem. All I know, is if you value your life avoid the audi dealership this time of the year.

Im sure bernie sanders will set them atraight

  8. Let the black on black murders continue and the problem will fix itself. Those blacks who survived other crimes and move to JoCo will also contribute to the decline in the city boundaries. Whites moving into the city and urban core will eventually gentrify the area and the overall rate in the city will eventually match that of JoCo.

    Hilarious!

The only "Historical Context" needed, is as relevant now as it used to be. Where there are blacks, there will by misery and murder.

  13. As a student trained to read these type of graphs for the state mandatory MAP test, I can tell you that fucking chart is bullshit.

110 homicides in 2014 (with the books cooked to hell) is STILL 45 percent more than 60 in 1965.

The inmates run the asylum in Killer City/CKMO.

  15. Yeah, who ya gonna believe? Your lyin' eyes, or Tony?

Lordy, the rationalizations and speculation without any basis in fact for believing what you want to believe, despite all evidence to the contrary, is just amazing!

As one philosopher once said (and it's been attributed to a lot of people): "It ain't what we know that gets us into trouble. It's what we think we know that ain't so."

  16. Richard Nixon killed a lot of people.

  17. most of the crime is black-on-black violence -- which results in fewer Democrat moochers..

why is this a bad thing?

  18. Nobody wants to address the ugly truth. This is mostly a cultural issue. Yup that's right. As one earlier poster pointed out, the majority of murders take place in a pretty specific area. I will also point out that there is also a pretty specific demographic involved. That demographic also has a pretty specific culture that has little respect for education, nuclear family life, strong work ethic, civilized conduct or the rule of law. IT ALL STARTS IN THE HOME PEOPLE!! Black women need to start crossing their legs when these saggy pants wearing dredlocked unemployed musty smelling thug ass mush mouthed jive talking bastards want to breed them. These assholes of which I speak can't take care of their own ass much less anyone else. That's a start. Value yourselves ladies. Have self respect ladies. Get an education and a job. Take up with a respectable man and raise respectable kids. BREAK THE CYCLE! The police can't raise someone else's family. All they can do is react to the behaviors. I know I'm not wrong.

  19. In spite of the spin coming out of the Sly Castle you could fund a hundred more police offices and spend a million more bucks on policing and it would have virtually no effect on preventing murder. It might clear up a little paperwork downtown, but the benefits to citizens would be virtually zero.

    NO E TAX

  20. it's entirely a nigger issue. rid the block, neighborhood, city, county, state, nation - world? - of niggers and it would solve many of the world's problems.

    - no niggers to feed and house, therefore more money for the remaining human whites
    - a better standard of living for whites
    - no more shitty neighborhoods
    - there's not this subclass of non-humans running around

Then we can get to work shoveling up the Mexcrement

  21. National statistics show that the decline in homicides coincided EXACTLY with the War on Drugs -- early to mid 1980s. In short, violent drug offenders were put in prison, taken off of the streets and committed less murders.

With all this recent nonsense about early release for drug offenders, the murder rate will naturally increase when these felons are released back upon society.

  22. Thank god abortion was legalized otherwise we'd be overrun with pavement apes.

  23. War on drugs?

    WAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

We lost that war in the 70s. Most cops on the street dont even mess with drug cases unless there a a chance for the motherload or it is a boring day. Hell even today we order or troops to ignore opium fields in Afghanstan. If you want to win the drug war let the dregs OD and die.

  24. The War On Drugs is the War On The Poor. Started by Richard M Nixon. Neoliberal Policy started at that time. Bill Clinton injected the War On The Poor with steroids.

  25. Ernest Evans2/18/16, 5:05 PM

Dear Mr. Tony: Commentators all over the country have tried to downplay the surge of violence in the US in the past 18 months by noting that we are still well below the crime levels of the early 1990s. True, but of questionable relevance. If we keep up a lot of the foolish behavior engaged in by journalists, politicians and community leaders since the death of Michael Brown in Ferguson on August 9, 2014 we could quickly be back at those early 1990s crime levels. Case in point: In Baltimore in 2015 there were almost as many homicides as in the world year on record for that city, 1993. Nothing, repeat nothing, says that the same situation could not emerge in KCMO. Take care. Sincerely, Ernest Evans

  26. " If we keep up a lot of the foolish behavior engaged in by journalists, politicians and community leaders since the death of Michael Brown in Ferguson on August 9, 2014 we could quickly be back at those early 1990s crime levels."

Demanding justice for unarmed blacks killed by the police in self-defense is not 'foolish behavior'. Crime has increased because of these killings & not because of de-policing. Ferguson was deliberately prying on its black citizens for revenue. There was systemic racism throughout the police department. It was these 'foolish behavior's that were responsible.

  27. The stat game is not impressive. If police community relations were so good, they why hasn't anybody turned in the Subway robber?

  29. Hey Funkensheister. How many unarmed blacks killed by police officers were off'd legally? If the criminal coon's union doesn't like it maybe they could address state legislatures on the civil nature of allowing felons to go free without a scratch. I'm sure the laws wold be changed in a flash since they been bitching and whining for a good fifty years or so.
