Lee's Summit Council Candidate Chris Moreno Earns Firefighter Endorsement

TKC NOTE . . . This is important if only because time is strange in politics, not so long ago Mr. Moreno was in the midst of political disagreements with the FD union guys in KC. Here's the latest that reveals a bit of fence mending with 1st responders overall . . .

Chris Moreno Receives Endorsement from The Lee’s Summit Fire Fighter Association

“His support for public safety and cutting wasteful spending make him the best candidate for our community”

Lee’s Summit, MO. – Today, City Council candidate Chris Moreno announced his endorsement by the Lee’s Summit Fire Fighter Association, IAFF Local 2195, which is made up of over 120 Lee’s Summit Fire Fighters and Emergency Services personnel.

“The Lee’s Summit Firefighter’s Association is endorsing Chris Moreno for City Council. His support for public safety and his focus on cutting wasteful spending make him the best candidate to represent the interests of our community,” said President Kris Presnell.

This major endorsement comes after Chris Moreno helped lead efforts since last fall to publicly address emergency services issues in the City of Lee’s Summit. Since December, Chris Moreno has been out front publicly leading efforts to ensure both Colbern Rd. (Station 2) and Blackwell Rd. (Station 6) have an ambulance unit, and paramedics on staff at all times. In 2009, while serving as a top advisor to the Governor and Liaison to the Missouri Department of Labor & Industrial Relations, Chris Moreno, played a key role in passing the Line of Duty Compensation Fund, which assists families of those killed in the line of duty.

“I entered this race as a concerned dad, and husband, willing to do whatever it took to make sure our families in the 4th District had an ambulance, and paramedics on staff at all times. After months of working with city leaders, we accomplished this goal. I am honored to have the endorsement of our Lee’s Summit Fire Fighters Association and their families. As City Councilman, I will continue to be a strong voice for those that put their lives on the line for us,” said Moreno.
