Golden Ghetto Man Of God Talks Guns

Here's the word about scripture and self-defense according to this Johnson County preacher and the blonde, blue-eyed and completely historically inaccurate Jesus mostly worshiped in the suburbs. Checkit: God and Guns: Leawood pastor takes on two dicey issues

  2. The Kansas City Atheist Coaltion will probably get in a snit about this.

Their President, Joshua Hyde, will not take this lying down, I betcha.

    Stay tuned.

  5. Perhaps Jesus is not white for the megachurches. GOLD, may be more accurate. $90 million is being spent at this Leawood campus for a massive sanctuary and $15 million on three very large stained glass panels. Is this really what Jesus would do? This congregation was already rotating various worship times to fit various groups into existing spaces. I've seen overflows in the current sanctuary only occasionally, and all those large screen live feeds out to additional locations seemed to work great.

Sure, COR does some good ministries with local community service projects and global missions. Yet those millions spent on steel, stucco and shiny glass could instead do additional great works. Why not an Ameri-Corps type program get funded with the millions? Those big bucks could aid scholarships for medical, dental or specialized therapies in exchange for serving more homeless and veterans. There's plenty of need for help in the metro.

  7. TV5 airs "Guns In The Heartland" tonight(6 & 10pm). Program web notes and reporter snips over the weekend depict small children 'accidentally' finding a 'real' gun. The newsies state there's NO agenda and NO hype with this multi-part presentation this week. Just a conversation starter, they say.

Yeah, well, there better be a coherent agenda. A message for RESPONSIBLE gun ownership, for starters. PERIOD.

If TV5 hypes a slant toward ANTI GUN, then that Brad RANT box is going bust.

We don't need lectures and fear tactics to get a balanced message on our rights and responsibilities. Will they insert Ned Yost's commercial endorsement for Pioneer Justice in Lee's Summit? He urged gun safety and range training in those ads throughout his Royals' run up to and during the World Series win. MLB gets it!
