RE: Judge denies city's motion to dismiss downtown hotel lawsuit!
Earlier today, the Judge denied the City’s motion to dismiss the law suit filed by the petitioners to get the downtown hotel project on the ballot.
This is GREAT NEWS for the petitioners and indicates the City’s claim our petition is unconstitutional and illegal is not a valid position.
At the same time, the Judge did allow the developers to partake in the suit. We elected not to fight this since all the facts have been stipulated to and no more evidence or arguments are admissible. There is really not anything the developers can add. Our suit was filed to get the City to honor the City Charter and allow the voters their right to vote on this matter. It really has nothing to do with the developers.
As previously noted, a Hearing has been scheduled for Tuesday, February 2, at 1:30 PM in the Independence, MO courthouse, 308 W. Kansas, Independence, MO 64050.
It is important to get as many PATRIOTS as we can to attend the hearing to let the Judge ... and more importantly the City know how important it is for the taxpayers to have a say when we feel our tax dollars are being wasted. We hope to see you there.

The simple fact is Sly and crews solutions to the problems his policies created in the first place result in even greater problems... In short, their cure is worse than the disease. Nonetheless, they’ll never give up chasing the wild goose, and ripping off taxpayers at every opportunity.

ReplyDeleteSly was going to lose until he received 80% of the vote, though Tony claimed it was by corruption. What Tony accused Sly of doing is illegal, so by rights he could sue Tony over it. He probably realizes that that would be counter-productive.
