CALVIN STAYS WINNING AS JACKSON COUNTY COURTHOUSE INSIDERS REMAIN IRKED OVER IMPORTANT ATA APPOINTMENT!!!
The appointment to the Kansas City Area Transportation Authority, to fill the vacancy occasioned by the expiration of the term of Robbie Makinen was a last minute act from former Jackson County exec Mike Sanders as he escaped 12th & Oak in the middle of the night like some kind of hobo.
Now . . .
More than a few TKC readers have urged us to blog something about this curious assignment because the ATA nod doesn't typically stay inside the executive's office.
Even more important . . . According to Courthouse Insiders . . . Calvin is basically running Frank White, sitting in on all of his meetings and otherwise managing a dude who is already falling behind managing the very steep learning curve of the job.
Kudos to Calvin for avoiding even a hint of house cleaning . . . Basically, the Mike Sanders team remains intact and Frank White is serving as a figurehead for the moment.
Here's the worry among concerned JaxCo denizens:
"Frank White has yet to make the office his own. What has really changed in Jackson County? I hope he does well but the fact is that he might fall prey to the very same factors that caused Mike Sanders to resign if he doesn't make some kind adjustment."
The reality, most voters have no idea who really runs things in Jackson County and we offer respect to the media skill of Mr. Cream Puff and the "Calvin Factor" for not only WINNING at keeping his job but also keeping all of this out of the news and setting up what could be a golden parachute at the ATA - Which should be where all of the action is after the e-tax election.
