TKC EXCLUSIVE REAX!!! DEAD TREE MEDIA TAKING HEAT: READERS AND FIREFIGHTERS RAGE AGAINST KANSAS CITY STAR FEATURE BLAMING VICTIMS OF SUSPECTED ARSON!!!

In a move to that has alienated another local community, the Kansas City Star is enduring widespread negative reaction over their Sunday feature.
Allow TKC one brief inside: Deets about the "collapse zone" aren't new and were revealed to most mainstream media back in October . . . Even blogged in the newspaper.
Here's what's more interesting and what nobody else is blogging right now . . .
THE KANSAS CITY STAR NOW CONFRONTS OVERWHELMING PUSH BACK FROM READERS AND FIREFIGHTERS FOR THE FALSE NARRATIVE PUBLISHED THAT PUTS THE BLAME ON DEAD FIREFIGHTERS!!!
The KCFD Chief offers the most important note . . .
"The article is placing blame on the victims. Any blame for what happened should go to me first," said Kansas City Fire Chief Paul Berardi.
Now . . .
THANKS TO OUR TKC BLOG COMMUNITY: READ SOME OF THE TOP COMMENTS CALLING OUT THE KANSAS CITY STAR FOR THEIR JOURNALISM FAIL!!!
You decide . . .
"Thorough inquiry takes time and much effort. Science in fire investigations has some involved processes. Recreating the incidences of the 10/12/15 fire and collapse will likely fully explain all factors for the events of that day. High flames, dense combustible arrays, fully pressurized hoses, diesel engines running and equipment gauges audibles can rise to high decibels. Combine all those "noise levels" in confined areas and responders risk audible interference. Documented studies and statements prove communications impediments can be detrimental, to the point of trauma, injury and life loss"
"Really?..Should we ever be where we choose to go to help others?No....we do it because of who we are as firefighters. If this headline in our own city defined who we are as firefighters, we wouldn't even have entered the building to save several occupants. We will all continue to serve our cities and put others ahead of ourselves. That's what we do..we did it last night on a 2 story job and the shift before on an occupied bungalow going front to back...The government will always have pencil pushers coming to determinations from interviews and investigations. Bottom line..sometimes things are uncontrollable...By the textbook you shouldn't do 99 percent of what we do as firefighters.. We also try to learn from experiences and move forward..the Kansas City Star only defamed these heroes with their front page headlines..no surprise from this rag of a paper who repeatedly take shots at our Local whenever they get a chance..RIP John Mesh and Larry Leggio."
"Mike Hendricks, Matt Campbell, how dare you? You can both kiss it. Citing your 'information' from another city, and another year to what happened here? KC Star should terminate you're shoddy 'journalism' right now. If they don't, we're done. How dare you?"
"Looks as if the KC Star is blaming the firefighters for dying in the blaze. Hopefully with this kind of reporting the nail salon arsonist will not be charged with murder. And the newspaper wonders why people are cancelling subscriptions?"
"Many firefighters are expressing criticism over the article since an investigation is still ongoing. An investigation is still ongoing and it's premature to point out what the cause of the two deaths was, said firefighter officials."
Developing . . .
Thank you for finding the half dozen people who still read the Sunday paper. You are doing an excellent public service TKC.
ReplyDeleteThe Kansas City Star's Yael T. Abouhalkah reported that Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback wants a new, catchy slogan for the state to use in promoting itself to tourists and businesses. Mr. Abouhalkah, the vindictive Liberal passive-aggressive whiner that he is, decided not to be positive and constructive, but to solicit and publish those reader entries he deemed sufficiently vile.
ReplyDeleteAbouhalkah reports that readers delivered a flood of more than 250 suggestions. So, assuming no multiple entries, it would appear the Star's entire subscription base responded to his plea.
Mr. Abouhalkah who now apparently can't be bothered to do his own work, prefers instead to farm out the creativity to those few misguided souls still paying for the privilege of receiving a daily advertiser thrown on their driveway. Hmm....hasn't Mr. Abouhalkah complained that bloggers oftentimes simply repeat the work of others?
Well, turnabout is fair play,so here are the best new ‘catchy’ slogans for The Kansas City Star — but don’t tell Yael Abouhalkah!!

ReplyDeleteThat is sort of funny, you should have sent it as an email and not spam.
Also the blaming dead firefighters is a new low.
I think two issues are getting confused here. I don't see the issue being any results of the federal report (which, BTW, the Star actually reported pretty accurately). Maybe it was the firefighters' fault for not heeding the warning to evacuate, maybe it was the scene commander's for not making sure they cleared out, maybe it's the chief's for having inadequate policies in place, maybe it's no one's as sometimes bad things just happen. The issue, as I see it, is that the chief clearly stated in the interview that the department anticipated BEGINNING their investigation in a matter of weeks. It's wholly unacceptable that the department has not yet begun the investigation.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry that the fire department not doing their internal investigation yet is unacceptable in your eyes. I really appreciate your concern for the families and friends of the firefighters involved and the traumatic event they experienced.
DeleteIn my opinion they can wait as long as they fucking want to do an internal investigation. They've already been investigated by 2 federal agencies, maybe let's wait until after the holidays and help the families get through that.
How can future arson fires be deterred?
ReplyDeleteWhy was this woman walking around after two previous nail salon arsons?
Why does the Star not demand thorough investigation of all arson fires and prosecution of involved parties.
Why does the Star ignore or aid the cover-up of previous multiple arson fires like the three related lumberyard arson fires in October 2003.
Schutte Lumber suffers $8,000,000.00 damage. Reported in Star.
Four of six people involved briefly jailed and turned loose for flimsy excuses by former Jackson County Prosecutor. Two others never identified and prosecution dropped.
Does the Star's tax abatement(sick) from Jackson County inhibit them from being ethical and honest?
Has the Star become a morally compromised exploitative tabloid?
"Also the blaming dead firefighters is a new low."
ReplyDeleteNot really, maybe it was their fault. I know it probably goes against your delicate sensibilities, but just because they lost their lives doesn't mean that they can't be the one's at fault.
Well it's quite obvious why the tree is dying!!!
ReplyDeleteJesus. Anon 3:07. You did all but blame the Star for blowing up the firefighters in S. KC. Why is it their job to call for investigations? I'm not particularly fond of the local rag but damn, thats like expecting TKC to be a credable source for news.
ReplyDeleteI'm like a lot of other people. What was this crazy bitch doing om the loose after the other fires?

DATS WHAT I SEYZ
Boy, for "warrior heroes" in the "most dangerous job in the world" these guys sure do seem to bitch and moan about something new just about every day.
ReplyDeleteSo very much drama with these clods.
Wrong! FD is brought up by the media for reasons known to the spin wizards. Guess a smack on the fallen firefighters garners attention and fills space for now. Star's looking to be the clods for drama in this. Sad.
DeleteI planned on buying a newspaper to burn in protest but every store I went to said they didn't know what the KC star was.
ReplyDeleteI'm starting to love those tax breaks King Sly and crew hand out.
ReplyDeleteYep, it's probably smart to wait as long as necessary when gathering information from witnesses at the scene.
ReplyDeleteThose kinds of memories just seem to get more accurate with time, it's quite well known.
Clearly they are interested in nothing but getting to the truth of the matter.
Get a grip. I know, cyber age and all, everything is SNAP & TWEET -- NOW, THIS INSTANT!!!
DeleteWho says reports aren't logged in already to be reviewed and expounded if needed before formally submitting to all required agencies? Hasn't been 60 days since 10/12, and there should be some consideration for the thorough documenting of the matter. Legal and occupation issues in these times undoubtedly require levels of accountability to many layers.
P.A.T.I.E.N.C.E.
DENSE combustible arrays...as in solids, fluids, gasses all within close proximity...and common in footprints of residential and business structures of multiple levels and adjoined perimeter walls can be treacherous to battle.
ReplyDeleteAdded concerns are plumbing for kitchen/bath may have methane present,
wiring can spark combustion in walls/ceilings as connections melt through,
older or dry rot/termite damaged wood presents dangers of accelerated burn and quick collapse,
furnishings and contents crowded in tight spaces fuel larger flame/smoke,
and the list is indeterminate due to personal habits of orderliness or NOT. Construction methods not adequate and maintenance that is neglected can compromise structures even before a fire further sets the course of demise.
4:05, how about we just forget the whole thing ever happened, never look into it, that way we can keep having funerals for firefighters dying in similar circumstances? Would that be the best thing to do? Maybe we just ignore that anything went wrong, never look into ways to prevent it, and never ever think that anything could possibly have gone wrong? Would that be the best thing to do?
ReplyDeleteTwo good men are dead and their families are destroyed. But according to some of you assholes and the Kansas City Star, they're at fault for their deaths. Apparently the only ones now a days who aren't at fault for the deaths are the criminals shot by the police. Those people are immortalized (Michael Brown) by the media. These 2 men died protecting other people on a daily basis. Their families deserve better from the people of this city. Too bad they well never get it.
ReplyDeleteI'll give the star this, it's the only decent front page story they've published all year. Actually read half of it.
ReplyDeleteIt's a fact, you can't insult the firefighters whether they are right or wrong. It's been investigated by the Feds. If they were told to move back and didn't, they ultimately created this issue. Horrible to happen but it happens when you don't listen to the commanders. That's why there are commanders.
ReplyDelete5:20 where does 4:05 say fugedaboudit and no internal inquiries are to be done?
ReplyDeleteIt is plain English. Try reading with comprehension.
