Chastain files defamation suit against Anne Hodgdon in Olathe, Ks. District Court
Today I filed (see attachment) a lawsuit against Anne Hodgdon (Lenexa resident and ardent supporter of Mayor Sly James) for posting a false accusation on her Facebook page (5/2/15) that 20- years ago I lured her to my home and sexually attacked her.
Ms. Hodgdon stated she finally spoke out about me in her post after watching "wacko Clay Chastain" try to "upend KCMO," and "legally mess" with "the great Mayor Sly James." As you recall, Ms.Hodgdon posted her accusation while I was in the midst of trying to get Mayor Sly James disqualified from the mayoral primary ballot for his failure to be current on paying his city taxes at the time the city clerk certified his name be placed before voters.
An aside: I would likely be the mayor today had it not been for the fact I filed the suit against James outside the 30-day time frame allotted by law.
Ms. Hodgdon's false accusation against me was not only posted on her Facebook page, but was also fed to Tony's blog and others. Her malicious, vicious, and false accusation was read far and wide. It escaped my 90-year old mother thank goodness, but even my sister and eldest daughter (all 3 of whom live in Kansas City) had heard "something" about Ms. Hodgdon's accusation.
In short, Ms. Hodgdon accused me of luring her to my home using public transit as my prop. She said I showed her my "beautifully pencil-drawn" streetcar plans, "pages and pages of them," that I was getting ready to submit to the city.
The inconvenient truth for Ms.Hodgdon and her lovely lie is the fact I had no such transit plans at that time (light rail, streetcars, etc.) that I could have shown her, nor would I have any until almost 4-years later when I submitted my first light rail-based petition plan to the city and voters.!! In 1994, I was focused solely on trying to save Union Station.
Back to her lovely story....Ms. Hodgdon said I then proceeded to play the piano for her, got up and made a pass at her, and when she refused me I went into a rage, sexually attacked her, she "kneed" me to get free, and then she said, "he ran after me enraged and screaming like a madman," as I sped away in my car to safety.
I may be a public figure, but no one is going to smear and impugn my personal character and public reputation with this kind of false malicious crud designed to get me off the back of the city and Mayor Sly James.

I'm sure you, family, and friends have suffered immense psychological stress from the inflicted pain and suffering of her blatantly irresponsible actions.
I understand that similar cases have been settled for $500,000
Be strong and be willing to take it to trial.
Clay is part of the reason we can't have nice things anymore.
