TKC QUESTION: AMID AFTERMATH OF PARIS ATTACKS IS THE KANSAS CITY COUNTRY CLUB PLAZA LIGHTING CEREMONY SAFE???

Next week Kansas City will gather once again to celebrate the holiday season with the annual County Club Plaza Lighting ceremony. The question tonight: Despite tightened security across the nation as a response to recent terrorist attacks in Paris, is there still a threat to the safety of the crowd during this signature Midwest event???

Answering either way gives an unpleasant option: Either, Kansas City is such a low value flyover target that not even Osama's ghost is interested OR there is a reasonable threat deserves attention.

Consultants and politicos might argue that any threat will be handled dutifully by security personnel and while that's usually the case . . . Is it worth it to venture into this low value target simply to celebrate the legacy of the guy who pioneered racially restrictive covenants???

You decide . . . Altogether it looks like a low-key affair with the author of lady fiction flipping the switch rather than any real celeb.

You decide . . .

  1. You're far more likely to be mugged or get in a car crash or get struck by lightning (twice) than be a victim of a terrorist attack.

  3. I suspect that the terrorists will attack the Plaza lighting ceremony right after they blow up the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

  6. Given that Paris has almost 13 million people and KC has about 2 million I would expect that if ISIS had ever heard of killer city it would be way down on the list unless they are just curious to see how high they can blow cow shit. Besides if they have any intel at all they already know the spooks have pretty much anything work making a target and they don't listen to Tech9.

Only the streetcar can safe us from terror. The terror of saving city hall money

  8. The Kansas City Atheist Coalition is currently crying over Syrian refuges not getting to come over fast enough.

But not a word for the victims of terrorists, or the Christians being killed throughout the Middle East.

It is no coincidence that whenever atheists have had the necessary political power that they have killed MILLIONS.

Let us hope these scum never obtain political power here.

  9. Plaza Lighting very safe. ISIS is not a threat in Missouri.

Saturday Missouri had the worlds 6th largest Army. Yes. The WORLDS 6th largest Army, over 2 million strong. They were in the woods, drunk and all armed with high power rifles. 2 million drunk red necks in the woods with high powered rifles, opening day of "Deer Season".

Fuck ISIS, those sand spooks are smarter than that. 2 million drunk, red necks are not to be fucked with.

BTW, many of these same "warriors" will be everyday riders of that sleek, supersonic Toy Train that has been crusing downtown. Choo Choo.

  11. I agree the plaza is not threatened. But then again, neither is most of the u.s. other than new york. it's time to get serious about the discussion and take a real look at our foreign policy that encourages these threats.

  12. ISIS isn't the threat, but NIGGIS is.

  13. There might be another stabbing, like during the Plsza Art Fai right? Because TKC told you so

  14. Even if there was a terrorist attack, Kansas City would still find a way to make it boring.

  15. Of course they might want to stop by KCI to wash their feet.....

  16. Had a quick thought during the KC Royals WS festivities that a Boston Marathon type terror deja vu would really suck. With family and friends attending downtown while I watched teevee coverage this granny did a quick Perpetual Help & Hail Mary before blocking out worry. Our cyber security experts are acknowledging the tracking of possible terror is arduous. Ron Hosko (former FBI, security consultant) advised on 41's nat'l news "apps go dark" and create 'Security Obscurity' posing increased concerns for our national security. Thank you, Governors, Intel Command and all others working to safeguard us by urging sensible refugee policies. FUBAR is never fun.

  17. KC has a black mayor that supports the muslim leader named Obummer in the white House.

They aren't going to attack here, no worries go to your Plaza light celebration all is safe.

  18. There's no safe spaces in Sly's Killa City folks.

If that is not obvious by now it never will be.

  19. Black lives matter might storm the stage when they are done shoplifting.

  20. The only danger the citizens of Kansas City face at the Plaza lighting is from the thugs who live here.

  21. It's not a "signature Midwest event." Nobody from outside Kansas City has even heard of it. Get serious.

  22. WHO IN THE WORLD THINKS THE PLAZA IS SAFE ANYWAY? CHESLEY BROWN SECURITY HAS NEVER PROTECTED THE PLAZA LOL LOL. LET ALONE WHEN THERE IS ANY REAL THREAT. SECURITY GOES AND JUST HIDES IN THE GARAGES. IF THEY DONT SEE IT, IT DIDNT HAPPEN. WHAT A JOKE.
