TKC MORNING QUESTION: IS $1.8 MILLION TOO MUCH TO SPEND ON KANSAS CITY MAYOR SLY'S JERKY STAFFERS???
Buried in a morning news story is a media slap fight over money that needs to be highlighted.
The City Budget says the Mayor is spending $2 mil on his office and staffers . . . The dweebs employed by the Mayor argue that figure is really $1.8 million.
Either way . . .
MAYOR SLY JAMES HAS SPENT MORE ON HIS OFFICE AND STAFFERS THAN ANY OTHER ADMINISTRATION IN LOCAL HISTORY!!! IS THE COST TOO MUCH FOR KANSAS CITY???
You decide but it's worth noting that this is the 2nd Mayoral Administration to assign jerky low ranking staffers to monitor the comment section of this blog so PLEASE treat them accordingly and make sure they earn their cash.

Professionals require a real salary that's competitive. I wouldn't expect you to understand that.
ReplyDeleteHow many are on the staff? If each staff member is making more than $45K in annual salary, insurance, & benefits it might be questionable.

ReplyDeleteThe figure is only relevant when we consider staff size (of which I have no information). Give the weak-mayor form of rule under which we are subjected, it's difficult to imagine a need for more than half a dozen "professionals". This is government so they probably still employ secretaries so double the number.

The figure is closer to 2.2 million when you factor in all of the people Sly forced the city manager to hire.

It's not really that much money when you consider that according to SMARTKC over 60% of downtowners midtowners and brooksiders are mayoral staffers and paid consultants.

ReplyDeleteIt would be interesting to see if Sly's staff has gotten a 2% increase total over the last three years like the rest of the City employees. This would be years 2,3 and 4 of the recovery.
