TKC BREAKING NEWS!!! GRASSROOTS PETITION AGAINST KANSAS CITY CROSSROADS TIF NOW UNDERWAY!!!

Online organizers haven't given up their opposition to a controversial tax break in the Crossroads which they argue takes away cash from schools.

Here's the latest update on their struggle:

Referendum Petition Initiated

Deets:

Nov 4, 2015 — I wanted to thank those that helped secure the 100 signatures (we actually got 153) on a Notice of Intent to Circulate a Referendum Petition on Ordinance 150849 (Second Amendment to W 17th St TIF).

I was able to deliver them to the City Clerk's office this afternoon. They will then send them to the Kansas City Election Board for verification.

In the meantime, we have a LOT of work to get done. The next step is to circulate the petition to secure 3,417 signatures by December 8th.

  1. Yesterday would have been a good day to get 800k in signatures. How could the mayor ignore that, even he said that many was there.

  6. If anyone actually believes an online petition drive is going to derail a TIF project for Shirley Helzberg in behalf of BNIM Architects, you've been reading way too many high school civics books.
In the general scheme of things in KC, this project is nickels and dimes and the folks who are making believe they're suddenly so concerned about money being taken out of KCPS are mostly make-believe contractors who are looking out...well, not for the school kids.
    Marching, petitions, demands, outrage!!!
    What a joke.
