The team to protect the Kansas City E-Tax is finally starting to move into action but there's a curious lack of organized opposition to this despised local tax.
To wit . . .
Last time around Jeff Roe's Axiom Strategies led the fight against the Kansas City Earnings Tax and this time around there seems to be little to no leadership against a renewal of the levy.
Certainly, somebody might be brave enough to step up and take the money of Rex Sinquefield . . . Or this could be just another legislative whim of the billionaire that goes otherwise ignored.
Just a bit of a confirmation of a trend we noted long ago that signals an overall lack of interest in local politics . . .
Either way, Mr. Roe and his company are earning far more cash WITH Mayor Sly and pushing local candidates . . . Fact is the E-Tax won a resounding victory last time around and it's sold to KCMO voters as a tax on the people of JoCo and other interlopers. The reality is that KCMO finances would be devastated without the money that provides 44% of the General Fund, and 16% of the total budget.

But if you scab fuckers living in Kansas City think for one minute I am going to not see that you pay this tax to benefit my having places to go play in, then you are more nuts than that fucker Tony who thinks he runs this place. Now that he and his firm have more connections to the civic crowd, I don't think he cares about stuff like this. Gotta go where the money is.

ReplyDeleteIf opponents want to defeat the earnings tax, they need to let the taxpayers know over and over that part of the earnings tax money goes into TIF's that line developers pockets! Earnings tax dollars are supposed to be for local services, fire, police, etc. Not for TIF's.
