TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! COUNCIL LADY JOLIE JUSTUS REVEALS UPCOMING PUBLIC TESTIMONY ON CONTROVERSIAL KANSAS CITY DOWNTOWN CONVENTION HOTEL OCT. 15TH!!!

This afternoon 4th District Councilwoman Jolie Justus took questions from the Kansas City in very informal setting at the Tower Tavern @ 31st in the Martini Corner party district.

This is part of the new "office hours" effort championed by Councilman Quinton Lucas and something that Council Lady Justus has done since her days as a Missouri State Senator.

The topics were quite literally "pedestrian" as sidewalks, bike projects and even bags of poo flung atop local trees were under discussion.



Late to arrive we really only wanted to know about where Council Lady Justus stood on the fight regarding the proposed Downtown Convention Hotel.

Here's what she had to say:



The long and short of her answer is that she's a "blank slate" as far the hotel goes . . . However, she did speak to the difficulty of dealing with decisions made by the previous council.

And here's the bigger deal that nobody in town cares to highlight . . .

IN RESPONSE TO VOTER PETITIONS AND PUBLIC OUTCRY THE COUNCIL HAS ASKED FOR AN OPEN BIZ SESSION MEETING ON THE DOWNTOWN CONVENTION HOTEL SCHEDULED FOR THE BIZ SESSION ON OCT. 15TH!!!

This is probably a response to continued complaints about Mayor Sly's lack of transparency on this issue.

Expect this bit of testimony to be packed with developers but it allows more time for the public to talk given that the first round of MULTI-MILLION DOLLAR SUBSIDY passed with less than 15 minutes of time to hear from the public. I guess we can call this progress.

In the meantime, Council Lady Justus continues to extol the virtues of the Council in asking questions and this might soon provide a turning point wherein our Council will depart from the Mayor's Downtown subsidy and eco-devo focused agenda.
