  1. Anyone who studies the factual history of the Catholic Church will find out what a messed up racket it really is. If the church had to pay out on all the dirty deeds (even beyond the rampant child molestation cases) it's been part of, the Vatican would be a trailer park.

  3. They only thing I learned from this article is that I should have been a lawyer. Some gal gets $200K because a guy took pictures of her daughters underwear and they needed "counseling" after she told them that they had been violated. Of course, she likely only got half of it. Meanwhile, they are arguing that not having any evidence of lewd pictures is no reason to be excluded from the payout. It's sad that those who falsely accuse make it harder for those with legitimate claims.

  4. "were awarded $200,000"

....uh...I'm just now recovering repressed memories of being abused by a now-deceased Catholic priest.....all my failures in life can be attributed to this abuse....but....I think I may be able to have some semblance of a life if they'd settle for a flat million dollars.

  5. Catholic organization clergy, employees, volunteers and staff are required to complete training to protect minors from abuse. This "VIRTUS" program instructs for legal mandates of reporting known and/or even SUSPECTED abuse (physical, sexual, psychological, or negligence) present or past, away from or at any parish function and involving anyone and everyone. Simply, if you see it or hear of it you must report it to THE LOCAL POLICE. You can report to priest, school staff, daycare worker, den leader, coach or volunteer if desired, but immediate reporting to POLICE IS LEGALLY REQUIRED. The courses I took in Shawnee a few years ago were given by a lawyer, a telecom manager and her detective husband. Background checks and this thorough training along with wide surveillance goes far to protect children.
