We talked about this yesterday and OUR TKC BLOG COMMUNITY INSPIRED MSM COVERAGE AGAIN with a broader perspective. While we focused on KC proper and instances where there were charges against assailants, local TV news looks at gun accidents as well . . . Some of which included no criminal charges.

ReplyDeleteKC NoVa and Aim4Peace are nothing more than experimental concoctions put together by college professors and peddled all across the country to cities like KCMO who want to try to make believe that they can delegate away their responsibilities for basics like public safety while they spend all their time and money subsidizing developers and building legacy crap like new new nifty transit.
ReplyDeleteAny reduction in the homicide numbers in KCMO has much less to do with make-work programs for ex-offenders like Aim4Peace or spening money without accountability for results like NoVa and all the other millions on "activists" and make-believe nonprofits, than it does on the efforts of EMTs and ER docs and nurses.
As long as behavior has deteriorated to a point that people casually kill each other over petty arguments, during drive-bys, drug deals gone bad, or just randomly, the situation in east side neighborhoods will continue to deteriorate and anyone with any sense and the financial ability to do so will leave.
There's no leadership talking about respect for yourself and others, personal responsibility and consequences for behavior, working hard in school, having a job, or contributing to your family and neighborhood.
There ARE endless excuses and blame for everyone else. Even Sly tried to rationalize having to shut down his end-of-summer event at Union Station early due to violence with the observation that had he not spent taxpayer money entertaining thee young people, they would have gone somewhere else and gotten into trouble.
You can have all the "programs", nonprofits, activists, grifters, town hall meetings, marches, vigils, and all the rest you want. And you continue to make believe that building taxpayer-subsidized grocery stores and huge police stations are going to change a thing.
I know! Let's have another round of meetings and listen to people like Al Brooks and Gwen Grant tell us all that everyone other than the small percentage of people who are responsible for anarchy, chaos, and murders are to blame.
We've heard it all before, actually hundreds of times, but maybe this go-around will be the charm.
It's sad when the problem is so clear and responsible people don't have the guts to act in behalf of the much greater good.
Even when they are well-paid to do their jobs.
Keep writing because you make a lot of sense. I want to hear more solutions coming from you.

Oh, they are big on polyamory...their director of activism even acted shocked when his girl friend realized he was "Polyamourous" because he thought she knew that all along.

Things like KCNova and Aim4Peace are just money laundering rackets putting money in the pockets of "community activists" and police officers. It has little benefit for the cost. It is just a way to pay off officers and certain people in the communities.
