Last night our blog community talked about more Kansas City homicide and YET ANOTHER INFANT tragically killed amid increasing local violence.
Accordingly . . .
THIS IS THE 13TH CHILD KILLED BY GUNFIRE IN THE GREATER KANSAS CITY METRO AREA WITHIN THE LAST YEAR!!!
Official report:
At approximately 930 PM on Tuesday evening KCPD officers were called to a residence in the 5900 block of E. 84th Street in regard to a shooting. When they arrived they discovered the bodies of a male, a female and an infant victim, all deceased, inside the residence. All three were victims of apparent gunshot injuries. It was determined that a family member had returned home and discovered the victims. There is no suspect description at this time. The investigation at the residence will continue throughout the night. Anyone with information into this completely senseless act is urged to call the TIPS Hotline at 816.474.8477 (TIPS).

The city prosecutor could start doing her job and prosecute violent criminals rather than letting them go on repeated felonies and not putting them in jail until they kill 3 or 5 or whatever number they manage that finally gets her attention.

ReplyDeleteHello TIPS, I have it on good authority that the deceased were watching KSHB41 News talk about their KC Jazz special report and how much fun the anchors had taking their family to a Royals game, when the man just flipped out and lost it because his family has really been struggling to keep their heads above water.
Everybody knows that KC jazz is a thing of the past. Almost nobody comes to KC because of the old jazz history. Locals don't go to 18th and Vine because TV news tells them every night how dangerous the area is. The city's been subsidizing the district for years, with no expectation that they'll ever be self-supporting.
KC doesn't even have a jazz radio station. The sheeple want music "entertainers", prostitutes who bump and grind and sing a little bit too (Beyonce, Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj).
If you're a poor minority child in the urban core you'd better be able to pull yourself up by your own bootstraps.

(buzz phrasing is the best) The construction from the new police facility at 95th & 71hwy provided tons of jobs to prevent tragedies like this one. This is just another isolated incident. Don't fret. No, dont worry at all. There's a black mayor and police chief, and several black council people showing that their black skin can solve just about any problem, just like this one. Voting and appointing people based solely on skin color was intended to increase communication with authorities. It meant that black people would join in a unity circle and swear off violence against and amongst themselves, notwithstanding abuse of political power. ReplyDeleteThere's no possible way to stop a crime like this before it happens if the people who do the killing don't care. But the fact that the police can't seem to figure this out might be part of the problem. Maybe if they wanted more cops they could have scaled back the plans for the multi-million dollar, excessively large, police palace at 27th and prospect. You know what what I'm talking about? The one thats a half mile from the other police station.
Building police facilities on every street corner is just what the doctor ordered. It will inspire neighborhoods to cooperate with the police to solve and prevent these heinous crimes. Add several black police officers and voila... world peace.

We are a country with over 300 million firearms, that horse left the barn a long time ago. Additional gun control at this point won't prevent criminals from getting them and using them, it will only affect law-abiding citizens who would comply. By nature, criminals don't obey laws that are inconvenient to their unlawful intentions.
ReplyDeleteFurther, even if we were able to somehow magically make 300 million guns disappear (rightly or wrongly), it wouldn't make a significant difference. The issue isn't caused by the availability of the tools, it's the people using them and the culture thereof. We'd start having more drive-by fire bombings and street corner stabbings. Only the most adamant PC lemming can't see past the tool being held and logically place the blame where it belongs, the perpetrator and the culture that enables them.
Maybe this will be the turning point for Sly and Troys debt binge.

But I can't agree with your conclusion about the 2nd Amendment. I believe the Founding Fathers were far more radical than you think. Thomas Jefferson believed that the people should rise up and violently rebel against their government every 20 years for no other reason than to show that they have the "Spirit of Resistance". In fact, after Shay's Rebellion, Jefferson said such an uprising should happen in each state, and that should 20 years pass without a bloody and violent uprising against the government, then America could no longer be considered free.
Pretty gruesome stuff, and doesn't seem to support your premise of a "well regulated militia." I think we can both agree that our current enforcement of the 2nd Amendment is much better than tarring and feathering the government every 20 years just to show that we are willing to do so.
What are your thoughts, Byron, on these facts?

(It used to be a requirement for a KCMO Police cadet to attend the 8-month academy in NKC, but now the city is just cutting costs by having POST candidates to attend a 6 to 8-week training session.)
