Elected leaders of Independence, MO just sent a message to the entire metro area . . . They can't generate any more interest in their multi-million dollar stadium efforts than a local merchant and who probably should've just bought a late night TV commercial: Independence Events Center to be renamed Silverstein Eye Centers Arena

This arena was inches away from becoming a ghost town in 2014. When the Central Hockey league folded it almost lost its only major tenant. That still could occur at any time because minor league hockey is a very unstable business. Just another example of our elected leaders ignoring needs in favor of glitz.

They don't need a new name. They need arena management that grasps the hospitality business and events management. That place will deteriorate into a sand box before they get it going and the numb nuts at the city just sit there and watch while the tax payers get fleeced on another stupid ass city idea..
