Interesting question from a newsie who has repeatedly shown Kansas City news watchers that he really doesn't care or want to hear what anybody else thinks: Poll: Do you trust Mayor Sly James and the new City Council?

    Voter turnout in local elections continues to clearly show that the people who actually have the misfortune of living in KCMO have long ago given up on what passes for their city government.
    Lots of marches, rallies, protests, and petitions, but the elected folks just make a few empty promises, wait for the dust to clear, and do pretty much anything they want as long as it pleases the insiders, east side extortionists, law firms, construction companies, Chamber swells, and the other insider who hang out on the 22nd and 29th floors at 12th and Oak.
    So just go to work, dig deep at e-tax time, listen to Yael and the Star and vote for every tax increase, attend the grandiose announcements, make believe that most of what you hear is true, and just leave the rest to Sly and the gang.
    Don't worry. SOMEONE at city hall is actually keeping track of the money.
