TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! INSIDERS FEAR KANSAS CITY ZOO TAX BOND SCHEME COULD FUND UPCOMING LUXURY DOWNTOWN CONVENTION HOTEL!!!

The mysterious labyrinth of City Hall finances confuses locals and newsies but through the POWER AND AWESOMENESS of Kansas City Insiders we've discovered an important tidbit that once again reveals the shady nature of City Hall finance.

To wit . . .

KICK-ASS KANSAS CITY INSIDERS RAGE OVER BEHIND THE SCENES PLANS TO FUND THE NEW DOWNTOWN CONVENTION HOTEL WITH CASH FROM THE ZOO TAX!!!

Remember that Jackson and Clay County and approved this tax not so long ago and it lasts FOREVER . . .

As with all taxes there are bonds and bond refunds, some of which are outlined in an ordinance passed in April.

Now, whilst the taxes for the Zoo are committed to this town's favorite money pit . . . The refunds, interest and other cash goodies related to the Zoo are part of an overall City Hall slush fund according to KICK-ASS INSIDERS . . .

Now . . .

RATHER THAN REINVEST IN THE ZOO OR OTHER KANSAS CITY ANIMAL FRIENDLY PROJECTS . . . BEHIND THE SCENES KANSAS CITY POLITICOS WANT ZOO MONEY MOVED TO THE NEW DOWNTOWN LUXURY CONVENTION HOTEL PROJECT!!!

What's sad about this one is that voters are never going to see it and the tax break supported daily newspaper won't be allowed to ask any questions on it.

Accordingly, when we talk about new taxes it's important to understand that they ALL end up funding the favorite schemes of whatever dictator rules at the moment no matter the best intentions and promises of smiling politicos pushing higher local fees.

  3. When I was running for City Council, I brought this very issue up at a public forum at the writers place in Valentine (not referencing the hotel, but how the city continues to invent new ways to fund projects with money that was earmarked for something else.) People looked pretty upset with me for suggesting it. They don't want to believe that the people they are elected and are mismanaging their money.

  4. Bryan -- you are absolutely right.

In KC, too many don't want to know because they don't want the responsibility of correcting it.

Liberty means responsibility. That's why most men dread it.

  5. Sounds like a serious accusation. A problem for TKC is that readers are at a loss as to which stories/accusations are or might have a factual basis and which are fabricated by a "kick-ass insider." And so it goes . . ..

  8. The more times you "move the money", the easier it becomes for it to disappear completely and then, nobody is the wiser for it.

  9. The Council stole PIAC money to study streetcars thus why is this so surprising.

  10. Why are we funding a zoo when we have Ferguson protesters?

  12. Per usual, your kick-ass tipsters are only partially right.
They might pull money out of the money the city allocates to the zoo, much like they did last budget session when they cut $250,000. They cannot touch the actual zoo tax based on state law.

  13. 1:29 don't worry. TKC won't let something like "state law" get in the way of his shape on the message.

Nah. Fact's don't matter. Just throw out some bullshit and call it a "Kick Ass Tip". When you own a media empire, you can say what you want. Since when do facts matter. What ever is floating around up in that empty coconut of a head, just claim it's fact. TKC "denizens" are sheeple. They believe what they are told.

Choo, Choo, clank, clank, choo, choo.
