TKC MONDAY QUESTION: WILL KANSAS CITY POLITICOS GET STREETLIGHTS WORKING ALONG SOUTHWEST TRAFFICWAY TWO WEEKS AFTER STORM KNOCK OUT?!?

Kansas City politicos giving interviews about their "priorities" to eager newsies willing to run presser copy is getting old.

To wit . . .

IT'S TIME FOR MIDTOWN KANSAS CITY TO START SHAMING KANSAS CITY LEADERS WHO HAVE LEFT AN IMPORTANT CORRIDOR OF THIS TOWN DARK FOR TWO WEEKS AFTER A OVERHYPED STORM!!!

Last night and every night for about two weeks the streetlights along Southwest Trafficway have been shut off while the Mayor and upcoming City Council politicos have been too busy doing a victory lap to notice that a major thoroughfare in this city has gone dark for half a month.

Real talk: This is a really dangerous situation and if it goes on for too much longer one of the many pedestrians along this route is going to get hit and possibly killed.

Newsies don't notice the embarrassing ongoing power outage because it's not on the way to suburban escape.

But the Southwest Trafficway Corridor is a big part of Kansas City streets and just about anybody who wants to get quickly from Downtown to The Plaza has been passing through a dark space for about two weeks.

Put this in perspective with a Mayor who keeps wanting cash for hotels or City Council members who say that infrastructure is their "big thing" this time around.

So here's your first test . . .

TURN THE LIGHTS ON IN MIDTOWN KANSAS CITY AND PROVE THAT SOUTHWEST TRAFFICWAY ISN'T JUST ANOTHER NEGLECTED CORRIDOR OUTSIDE OF THE DOWNTOWN TOY TRAIN DEVELOPMENT ZONE THAT LOCAL LEADERS OBSESS ABOUT CONSTANTLY!!!

Seriously, the continued power outage is embarrassing and just another example that following a low turnout election . . . Politicos aren't really interested in the problems that confront this city.

Developing . . .

  2. Niggers stole the copper wiring out of a relay box behind Browne's. A cop told me. I asked him "Why are the streetlights out? and he said "Niggers stole the copper wiring out of a relay box behind Browne's."

So quit blaming the city for the REAL problem in this town.

If there wasn't an on time and in budget hipster amusement ride totally paying for itself with a dedicated over performing revenue stream that hasn't touched the general fund and has directly lead to hundreds of millions of dollars of new development in previously tax draining vacant lots and buildings, we'd have the money to do everything you ever dreamed of!!!

  15. FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

(KCMO)--City of Kansas City Missouri Public Works Department

Effective July 6, 2015, due to the temporary multi-week street lighting outage along Southwest Trafficway, drivers using this stretch of roadway after 8:30PM will be asked to stop and affix glow-in-the-dark bumper covers on both front and rear portions of their vehicle. Police checkpoints will be in place to aid motorists, inspect placement of covers, and then recycle the safety devices upon exit from the dark zone.

While this program is voluntary, with this publication, motorists should consider themselves to have been legally warned about this section of dangerous public thoroughfare and thus waived their rights to bring suit against the city for damages, dismemberment, or death.

Update: The KCMO City Council is considering designating this stretch of Southwest Trafficway as a toll road so as to pay for the necessary lighting repairs. A vote on this measure is expected following the passage of a $300+ million dollar convention center hotel giveaway.

  16. Dear Mr. Reed, When are the people paying for free health care premium, jails, court costs, broken and aged public utilities, housing projects, three meals a day (now weekends too) for children, child care for 5 or more children per household with no working adults, highly paid school boards with golden parachutes, broken down schools and whatever endless money pit programs and projects designed to fill the pockets of the few going to receive representation?
