A quick look around and it was clear that a great many storefronts were empty and biz was paltry in what was formerly a mecca of local middle-class commerce.
This quick exodus was undoubtedly inspired by a spate of recent shootings and violence that has been constant over the past year.

JOCO INSIDERS BLAME KANSAS CITY CRIME MAKING A COMMUTE TO THE MALL FOR THE RAPID DECLINE!!!
The consequences of this trend coupled with the ease of online commerce are clearly taking their toll . . .
Sure, shopping on Amazon is lame but the mindless waiting is a lot better than confrontation with armed strangers . . . And the lack of an Orange Julius really makes me question Oak Park's commitment to excellence.
The mall can't even give away relatively cheap and inexpensive advertising space . . . Almost like the newspaper who mostly just shills for a chain store furniture outlet . . .
Worst of all . . .
THIS WEEK NORDSTROM'S ROCKED CUSTOMERS WITH A PARTIAL SHUT DOWN THAT HAS MALL EXECS WORRIED THE LUXURY RETAILER MIGHT SOON PULL OUT FOLLOWING A RECENT PARKING LOT SPATE OF GUNFIRE!!!
Stories of the gunfire have terrified customers and still resonate with a few clerks who spoke with TKC off the record.
We offer photographic evidence of the mall in decline and the high-priced retailer in flux to prove our point.
Most importantly, as the surrounding city of Overland Park is now home to more violence, murder and crime. And we conclude with this thought: It would be a loss for all of Kansas City if this last EPIC bastion of easily accessible commerce went down the tubes.

ReplyDeleteOak Park Mall has been getting bad for years. Saturday nights have been bad there for at least 10 years. Now the black plague has made it worse every day of the week. Of course nothing will happen to deter it we aren't allowed to tell the truth about black people for some reason. It's not racist, it is the fucking truth. Enclosed malls have been dying for decades. It was only a matter of time. Whether crime events have hastened the decline an fall of Oak Park is debatable.

I remember locally that the JCPenny was advertising the fact that they were changing the mix of goods they are carrying in that location to more accurately reflect the ongoing diversity in the neighborhood. The store was closed less than a year later.
The truth is that the people who truly have the disposable income to spend at your mall stop coming when niggers arrive. They are wary of gang shootings, rapes, robberies and other forms of TNB in the area and stop shopping there.
