TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! NEW COUNCIL PREPARING TO JETTISON KANSAS CITY AVIATION DUDE VANLOH!!!

The Kansas City skies aren't looking so friendly for a top ranking airport official in the aftermath of a surprising election.

To wit . . .

KANSAS CITY AIRPORT DUDE VANLOH MIGHT WANNA START MAKING TRAVEL PLANS AS THE NEW COUNCIL PREPS TO PUNCH HIS TICKET!!!

Basically, VanLoh was the architect and the front man for a failed scheme to sell the public on a new airport that NOBODY wanted.

Now . . .

LOOK FOR THE NEW COUNCIL TO ASSERT THEIR NEW AUTHORITY BY SENDING VANLOH INTO THE WILD BLUE YONDER AND ESSENTIALLY PUTTING DOWN ANY TALK OF A NEW AIRPORT!!!

A hardline stance against the new airport was a major talking point for quite a few candidates during election season and rejection of the scheme to wreck this important Kansas City convenience is just about the only issue that locals could agree upon which crossed cultural, demographic and partisan lines.

VanLoh could be the first casualty of Mayor Sly's inability to put together a viable election slate.

And so, while many local won't be sad to see VanLoh go . . . His upcoming departure could signal a new, more active and involved City Council that does not exclusively follow Mayor Sly's plan and has quite a few interesting items on their radar.

Developing . . .

  1. TKC, take off your bad puns. They make me need an air sickness bag.

  2. If true, it's a huge mistake.

  3. They need any airport money to keep the toy choo choo and downtown hipster amusement park afloat.

Sly's throbbing monument to his enlightened leadership.

  4. Van Loh's been a terrible manager of the airport, in that there's been very poor maintenance and upkeep of the buildings and not much of an effort to improve them as is.
But pretty much the same thing can be said about other facilities and infrastructure in KCMO including the streets and water and sewer systems.
Providing oversight of the operations and upkeep of city-owned assets is boring and doesn't get the electeds the face-time, contacts, and legacy opportunities they so desperately crave.
But building new things brings all the excitement of "a city on the move".
Wait until you see how the streetcar is operated and maintained.
It will be just like the airport.

  5. "They need any airport money to keep the toy choo choo and downtown hipster amusement park afloat."

Yup! That's EXACTLY what happened! They stole the airport money to "pay for" an on-time, in-budget project paid for 100% by its own revenue over-performing stream.

    You're so CLEVAR!

  6. Good, maybe these same council people will force the city manager and aviation department to get Terminal A repaired, updated and back open.

Terminal "B" is horribly overcrowded as is the parking there. All because Van Loh was trying to force this new airport down everyones throat

    Mr. Tony,
That man is slowly tearing down our airport. There could be many energy upgrades but this bastard wants a new building not preserving KCI.

    Glad he is going.

  9. He should burn down that piece of shit disco era airport on his way out.

  10. Aviation Department has plenty of money in reserves to maintain the terminals, but isn't using it to con people into believing we need a new airport.

  11. Pffft! All the guy needs to do is out himself as gay and he'll immediately sway the decision makers. This is KansasCisco ya know.

  12. Snazzy headline there. Very provocative. Let's hope the drop happens without a parachute.

  13. HOW DID HE LET THE AIRPORT GET IN SUCH DISREPAIR ?
should OF BEEN FIRED LONG AGO.

  14. They need to jettison Schulte and McIntyre as well.

  15. 11:22: "on-time, in-budget project paid for 100% by its own revenue over-performing stream."

Already at break even and will fer sure pay for itself by producing revenue from free rides.

Toot toot. You're quite a CLEVAR hoot.

  16. A loss for KC if VanLoh is out. He's one of the best airport directors in the country. And City Hall can't raid the airport for funds to pay for other non-airport-related projects. It's called "revenue diversion" and it's illegal under federal law.

  17. 7/4/15 12:15 AM Have you ever heard of "payment in lieu of taxes" That is the standard method of getting around the federal law of skimming airport funds.
