This weekend a dedicated crew of Kansas City tax fighters will be taking their call for Democracy directly to voters.

THE EFFORT TO PUT THE $300 MILLION KANSAS CITY DOWNTOWN CONVENTION HOTEL TO A PUBLIC VOTE KICKS INTO HIGH GEAR FOR JULY 4TH!!!
A crackdown on the citizen initiative process is already underway from the Sly James Mayoral Administration and Dead Tree Media . . . Thankfully, this last vestige of direct Democracy remains one of the only ways to check local power that has already turned voters away from the ballot box:
This weekend there is a great opportunity to collect signatures on our petition to get the Convention Hotel on the ballot. Last time we went to RiverFest, two of us collected over 200 in a little over two hours. We are going down again this year and would like to get five or six people to join us. We could get 500 signatures or more with the right effort. Please help if you can spend a couple hours . . .

But it's the people who live in KCMO's money, so I guess the rest of us shouldn't care.
Hiklton, Marriot and no hotel chains promoting this gig, but Sly's Inn has the answers. This thing is going to be like that NBA team coming to Sprint Center. We'll pick up the tab for a party that no one is coming to.
