KANSAS CITY NO VIOLENCE ALLIANCE CRACKDOWN ON DOMESTIC VIOLENCE!!!

Last year a great many politicos put their effort into touting the approach of KC Nova in reducing the local homicide rate . . . The pre-election push to confront the Kansas City homicide numbers earned widespread praise from the media and many people on the payroll of the program.

To be fair, there were more points of contact for the public created in the anti-violence push and even talking about community based solutions to local violence was a good thing.

Now . . .

KC NOVA LOOKS TO CONFRONT DOMESTIC ABUSE WITH THE SAME EARLY WARNING BEHIND THE SCENES SHOWDOWNS THEY INVOKED AGAINST OTHER VIOLENT CRIMINALS!!!

Quote on the topic . . .

"We look at individuals who have been arrested one time, two times, three times, for domestic violence, and then we have special interventions for each tier that they meet, each level of violence," said McHale.

Obviously . . . Fewer beat downs for local ladies is a good thing.

However . . . Latinos are noticeably excluded from the Jackson County payroll so I'll put this out there given that TKC is probably the most influential Latino inside the courthouse now that TGR is no longer relevant. Don't worry, I'm not bragging . . . The 2nd most influential Latino in JaxCo is a janitor.

To wit . . .

IF KC NOVA IS SERIOUS ABOUT COMBATING DOMESTIC VIOLENCE THEY'LL FIGURE OUT A WAY FOR UNDOCUMENTED WOMEN TO REPORT ABUSE WITHOUT GETTING TURNED IN TO IMMIGRATION AUTHORITIES!!!

Domestic violence persists at a higher rate within Kansas City's growing undocumented immigrant community because there is no widely publicized and official police policy on authorities turning in undocumented women. Real talk: Ask around Kansas City's Latino neighborhoods and there will be some very poignant stories of women who were deported while seeking help in confronting domestic violence.

Still, a great many undocumented women do, in fact, get from KCPD while confronting an abusive situation . . . Yet, the lack of any coherent (public) domestic abuse reporting policy for illegal immigrants has earned more than a few undocumented ladies a fight with ICE following any domestic abuse reporting . . . There is simply a lot of room for misunderstanding . . . This might be the only drawback to an otherwise effectively relaxed immigration enforcement policy from the KCPD.

Like it or not, in Kansas City reporting domestic abuse for undocumented women is a gamble . . . Any serious effort to confront this problem might want to address this longstanding inconsistency.

  1. Too funny. This bullshit program couldn't fix the ghetto murder problem so they are going to "pivot" to some other cause it cant fix.

  2. Another non profit, another tax free dollar at work. First on the agenda is reviewing cases where police officers beat their wives, girlfriends and/or children and were given a pass or the case was shit-canned in order to shirk federal gun laws. Christ knows the carpet is bulging from all these cases that have been swept thereunder. So, before you hit 'lil Mexico you better clean up the way this shit is internally handled at KCPD.

  3. "Undocumented" ... errrr, "Illegal".
    Tradeoffs.
    Uncomfortable? Go home.

  4. Domestic violence is a big and very serious issue that should get much more attention, but it doesn't have much to do with the horrendous murder rate in KCMO.
NoVa is stuck trying to add to what little progress they've made in reducing homicides in the city because they can't find the courage or political support to take the fight to the bad guys by bringing pressure in the neighborhoods where most the crime takes place. They would be accused of "profiling" and who knows what else. So the good folks who live in those communities have to continue to suffer while the usual suspects march around and make accusations and demands of the police and the rest of society.
And there's still pretty much zero cooperation by residents with the police, so the murder clearance rate continues to hover around only 50%.
So NoVa just declares victory and moves on to something else, just like the Star's recent editorial minimizing the continued lack of progress in reducing murders in the city.
It's really sad when you've actually identified the problem, but just can't find the guts to do anything about it.

  5. Drunken spousal abuse is a merging market at the Jackson Count Courthouse. The count can't manage simple affairs like roads and streets so they attempt to show progress in area's they've not been interested in for 200 years

  6. McHale ought to know about domestic violence. His old man used to slap the shit out of the family on the nightly. Looks like the kid has been divorced a couple times too, apple doesn't fall far from the tree I'd bet.
