KANSAS CITY CITIZEN MEDIA POOL

Check the work of Kansas City citizen media activists who are not only helping to save the planet but also offer their own look at 1st Friday festivities . . .

First, read about the serious biz of fighting pollution throughout the metro and MUST SEE INFO for all the locals spending their holiday near local lakes . . .

"Kansas City is a major polluter to one of the largest bodies of water in the United States. This form of environmental degradation occurs when pollutants are directly or indirectly discharged into water bodies without adequate treatment to remove harmful compounds. Point source water pollution refers to contaminants that enter a waterway from a single, identifiable source, such as a pipe or ditch. Examples of sources in this category include discharges from a sewage treatment plant, a factory, or a city storm drain. The U.S. Clean Water Act (CWA) defines point source for regulatory enforcement purposes.[9] The CWA definition of point source was amended in 1987 to include municipal storm sewer systems, as well as industrial storm water, such as from construction sites . . ."

Organizers are asking locals to sign this petition against local pollution . . .

Now . . . CHECK THEIR VIDEO . . .

Description: "Ever wonder why the fish in Jackson County aren't fit to eat? Even more so, why the county doesn't post no fishing signs for these poor anglers out for a carp or a channel cat who can't afford a bass boat, lake house and a zillion gallons of gas? Go no further, it's just a matter of time before we see fresh water catch on fire again just like Lake Michigan in the 1960's! So sit back and enjoy the show this 4th of July as we sing "The Apocalypse Waltz" to the florescent colors of motor oil running off parking lots into our fresh water streams."
