TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! MAKE IT RAIN: KANSAS CITY EMERGENCY OVERFLOW CASH TO BURNS & MAC!!!

Recent rains have flooded this town and made it clear that City Council has spent FOUR YEARS WITHOUT ANY REAL PROGRESS on federally mandated water repairs.

To wit . . .

NOW CHECK EMERGENCY CASH ROUTED TO BURNS & MAC THANKS TO RECENT KANSAS CITY FLOODING FAIL!!!

Here's City Hall moving big money that nobody else is reporting . . .

Ordinance #150368: Authorizing a Design Professional Services contract for $8,500,000.00 with Burns _ McDonnell Engineering Company, Inc. to provide Overflow Control Plan program management services; authorizing a maximum expenditure of $20,000,000.00 for the contract subject to future appropriations; and recognizing this ordinance as having an accelerated effective date.

To be fair, these repairs and plan are needed . . . In fact, they're needed much more than a toy train, Downtown Hotel or any other white elephant that Mayor and City Council have spent FAR MORE TIME AND EFFORT promoting.

Developing . . .

  1. Can we take this out of the earnings tax fund?

  2. $8.5 million for management services???? The council needs to fire Schulte and Leeds.

  3. Exactly! This huge sum of money is for "services" and doesn't actually fix or repair any...fucking....thing!! Why is this not simple, fucking robbery??

  4. It's an ordinance! Passed by the council! If Schulte told them the sky needs to be purple and they passed an ordinance, would you still blame Schulte? We need people on the council who aren't beholden to developers and attorneys and who know something about finances.

  5. Pretty sure this is TOTALLY UN FUCKING RELATED to the streetcar. And by pretty sure, I mean, unequivocally 100% certain.

  6. Wake up 9:41. They have experts in finance giving them their public scripts. In KCK, before a public council meeting, the same finance guy(s) call in and tell them to keep their mouths shut, he'll handle it. Did you think sly and reardon became buds because they actually like each other? The grocery store scam is from the KCK play book and is the perfect example KCMO is following the dream big path. They call this economic development, but it's development of monuments to their egos sucking the life out of public treasures.

  7. Anyone know if this was competitive or sole source?

  8. Kansas City is being run like a military base overseas. The crime rate can be high as long as the sewage flows

  9. The US was the first empire to colonize itself before expanding overseas. If the Mississippi River had been a body of saltwater it would have been considered an invasion to move west to California

  10. The money is to manage the project and doesn't include the cost of repairs or implementation. I think that's pretty normal when hiring an engineering company for a large project.... the issue is that we don't know the details and no scope of work is provided.

  11. I hope they start in the area where Citizens actually pay taxes in KCMO (around Ward Parkway) cause my fucking basement gets water backup everytime it rains.

Call 311 - they come out and spend 3 hours to unclog a main line.
Wait, 1 hour of that is for paperwork. Lots of paperwork.

Then it rains the next day and I still get water backup.

    Sorry - personal story here.

  12. Design service: Pump the sewer overflow back into a nearby river... I mean, the sewer overflow ends up in the rivers anyway.
That will be $8.5million for that piece of advice.

  13. 9:41 is Assistant City Manager Pat Klein who would be flipping burgers at McDonald's if it wasn't for Schulte. Pat's job is to get paid $180,000 per year to troll on FaceBook, TKC, Twitter, etc.

Damn shame that Sly is selling KCMO to the highest bidder. Shame on that guy and anyone who would dare vote for him.

  15. Hey morons, they are not building that enormous structure at 95th and Wornall with fucking mirrors. It takes big time city cash.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Wonder if Big Mac designs and builds at 95th Street with class (KC Star glass box-yuk!), and LEED certified (it's the21st century after all).....
    EPA - - -
    LEED - - -
    CERT.
    BLDG. STILL. EMPTY. IN. KCK
