TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! ICONIC KANSAS CITY CLUB SHUTTING DOWN AND DECLARING BANKRUPTCY!!!

REMEMBER that for more than a century the illustrious and iconic Kansas City Club was an institution which spoke to the strength of this town's community and heritage. Now they're closing down due to lack of membership and a financial inability to support themselves.

THANKS TO THE MOST AWESOME TKC TIPSTERS FOR THIS FIRST & EXCLUSIVE LOOK AT A MEMO REVEALING THE ICONIC KANSAS CITY CLUB CLOSING DOWN AND DECLARING BANKRUPTCY!!!

As always, KICK-ASS TKC TIPSTERS breaking important news always get the FIRST WORD . . .

"TKC, this note this was sent on May 25th, two days after the club officially closed. Also of note is the choice of chapter 7 bankruptcy over reorganization; this is after two past presidents of the club attempted to buy the club out as an LLC to utilize tax credits (hint: they’re looking for a bargain sale, good luck finding the listing). Further, as a current (and fourth generation) club member I went down this evening to attempt to secure some of my property I keep on premise (a nice liquor collection and some dirty gym shorts) only to find the doors all bolted and the front door with a chain and padlock. Yet another Kansas City scam in the works."

Now, say what you want about the usefulness of this kind of club BUT there's no denying that it represents part of Kansas City's heritage (Like it or not) . . . And neither the promise of the Downtown toy trains streetcar nor the convention hotel could save this institution.

Without further ado, here is the bankruptcy notice of The Kansas City Club . . .

FW: Club Announcement

Dear Kansas City Club Member,

As you are aware, The Kansas City Club has struggled financially for a number of years. Over the past decade several capable Members and your elected Boards of Directors have dedicated countless hours of personal time and very often personal funds to propping up the Club until such time that the membership numbers and Club usage could sustain itself. As was reported at last year’s Annual Membership Meeting, the Club has operated at a loss for most of the months in recent history.

Your Board recently contracted with Gib Kerr, respected downtown real estate agent, to quietly shop the building in hopes that a good offer would allow us to meet financial commitments and leave enough funds to purchase or lease a more modest and less expensive Clubhouse. Unfortunately, the sale of a building such as ours takes time and our financial obligations are mounting quickly.

We currently have a growing and aging Accounts Payable. In addition, we are responsible for increasing employee pension obligations as well as a bank note and two personal loans by members. Despite months and years of creative problem solving, loans and financial gifts, our cash flow situation has become untenable. On Wednesday, May 20, at the advice of financial and legal counsel, your Board made the following decisions:

* Cease all Clubhouse Operations effective 11:59 pm, Saturday, May 23rd, 2015.
* Increase marketing efforts on the building to source prospective buyers and use funds to pay off our mounting debt.
* Retain Legal Counsel and file Chapter 7 Bankruptcy.

It is with heavy hearts that this decision is communicated. You are no doubt aware of the challenges facing all Clubs, especially City Clubs, across the country. In fact, less than 18% of the City Clubs active in the 1980’s continue to operate today.

Our deep gratitude goes out to our Club Management Team and Staff who have worked so diligently over the past several months on our Members’ and Club’s behalf. We are committed to meeting payroll and bank obligations. We will retain very limited staff to fulfill banquet obligations and assist in the details of closing down the corporation.

Watch for correspondence in the coming weeks regarding building access to obtain personal items you may have stored at the Club as well as information on liquidation of physical assets which might be of interest to members.

Respectfully,
Your 2015 Board of Directors
###########

  2. I don't want to belong to any club that would have me as a member.

  3. Did they have a dress code? Maybe that's what did it?

    ReplyDelete
  4. The toy train could have saved it.

  5. So what about Wash u, they had a campus in that prompus building. Now were will the overpriced students study? The shame of it all...

  7. Just turn it into studio apartments for millenials with a ski-ball machine and an organic kale smoothie shop on the ground floor.
Be sure to use the words "disruption" and "trending" in your marketing materials and see if city hall will give you some incentive deals after you mention that your plan is based entirely on the exciting streetcar line.
    You're welcome.

  8. Another post, another circle jerk of sub-rube anti-transit, anti-city howling...

  9. What, is the River Club next?? Our old, fine, Kansas City institutions, being closed down in favor of McNIGGERs and Church's fried horseshit...

    ReplyDelete
  10. It was a fine White institution, one where we could be free of niggers. An era passes. Maybe they can turn it into Section Ape housing and it'll be a subsidized niggerville, a sheboon city, jigaboo jungle, yet another habitat for pavement apes.

  11. Interesting that one problem cited was "a growing and aging Accounts Payable." What that means is the high-income movers and shakers who belonged this former bastion of the former white ruling class weren't paying their club bills. Looks like the club just wasn't attracting the better class of people anymore. Or maybe Killer City no longer has a better class of people to attract. Maybe it will re-open in Johnson County.

  12. 7:36 Maybe if you had joined it would still be open.

    ReplyDelete
  13. But people like 7:36 don't actually support the institutions they claim are good. They sit in their basements and complain about the problems instead of supporting the "whites".

  14. @6:26am. Thank you for the morning chuckle.

@6:52 and 7:36. Stay in JoCo with your beige life. beige thoughts and beige words. You are so insignificant.

  15. I never saw anyone in there, nor have I seen any advertising for the club. But, I'm not a white man either, so I'm not what they want.

    ReplyDelete
  16. They didn't allow jews. They were a good club. They sent the hymies on down the road.

  17. Building will be sold, then Sly and crew will offer generous tax payer subsidies to developers to turn it into another soulless corporate blight addition to downtown.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I had no idea it was still open. I saw a historical picture of it a while ago in some book.

  19. Just another, in a long line of Killa City failures.

Keep spending millions on a 2 mile "Negro Shuttle" and " millions more on the Chamber of Commerce Temple, Union Station" while the city is over-run by packs of wild monkeys.

P&L, Plaza, Ward Parkway, now Oak Park and Olathe. All victims of the Negro plague.

This is a free speech zone, but if you're going to be a racist piece of shit, at least have the courage to use your real name.

Right now, you're just a coward.

  24. Byron, you peaked the Bear's interest with your "coward" comment.

Here is the definition of "coward" : a person who lacks the courage to do or endure dangerous or unpleasant things.

Enduring you and the sick shit that you do to sheep and would try to do to a bear, is both dangerous and unpleasant.

Consider the Bear a 'coward". Who in their right mind would want to endure your lame shit.

  25. Nazi Byron, shut the fuck up tick!

  26. 7:56, money owed to the club would be "Accounts Receivable"... "Accounts Payable" is money the club owes to others. Nice try, though.

  27. it's a SCAM!!! Do you hear!!! A SCAM!!!

Of course is is, loyal little tipster!

  28. I have toured the club before. It was actually a really nice place. They were doing some renovations here and there. I did notice it was more of an older generation (Which is fine), and they needed new business and civic leaders that are up and coming.

They pretty much do a KBI background check on you before becoming a member, which is fine and what they should do. There are dues, its not cheap, but its not like what you see at some country clubs in the metro.

Whats sad is what it used to be is not what it is anymore. I do believe Pendergast was a member, but so was Dwight D Eisenhower.

Kansas City has just been overrun with too many feminine hipsters and tech nerds to have a strong base of business acumen men and women that stems from a traditional-classy era.

Dont get me wrong we need our tech folk to create our apps and websites. You get the point.

Oh and BTW on a side note. Baltimore has had 26 shootings over the memorial day weekend. Nine deaths. At least KC is not that dump.

Sound like a gay old time.

  29. The Carriage Club is so much better than the Kansas City Club. More activities, brighter inside--everything you'd want if they'll take you. It's closer to Johnson County too.

  30. No niggers at the Carriage Club either. It's nigger-free. Sans sheboons. Non-niglet. It lacks Leroy's and Latifas. Without Webes. Denied to Dindu Nuffins. Blocked to blacks.

  31. Blocked to bobbleheads? Prohibited to Patio Primates? Refused to roaches? Forbidden to Fat Albert? FroBro free?No gars allowed?

So the main problem was "Aging Account Payables"?

So Sly was a member there?

  34. It's going the same route as the KCPD historical society. Their website hasn't been updated in years.

  35. I like Byron. He has the sack to use his real name.

    And you guys? Bear? Seriously?

  36. At one time, it was just for rich white men, who were in charge of everything. But when you exclude women and minorities, your market has shrunk considerably.
The Club tried. They let in women, and they had a "junior membership" at one time for younger members.
I think the final blow was the IRS ruling that business could not expense off the dues for their executives. In the "olden days", most members joined and their employer paid the dues. When they come out of your own pocket, suddenly the membership isn't as important.

  37. But is the Carriage Club jew free?
