MUST READ!!! FORMER COUNCIL LADY SHARON SANDERS BROOKS CALLS OUT KANSAS CITY AFRICAN-AMERICAN LEADERSHIP OVER RESPECT FOR LATE CIVIL RIGHTS LEADER FRED CURLS!!!

This week saw the passing of a Kansas City Civil Rights legend. In the midst of funeral and visitation services, former Council Lady Sharon Sanders Brooks noticed a troubling trend among younger local leaders that she identifies in this open letter.

Check it:

AN OPEN MESSAGE TO AFRICAN AMERICAN POLITICAL CANDIDATES and OFFICE HOLDERS IN KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI.

I have just returned from the funeral service of Mr. Fred Avril Curls, an Icon of Kansas City, Missouri Politics and Real Estate. He was 96 years old. This message is directed to those of you who were NOT at today's service nor visitation. My question to YOU is where were YOU ?

The last surviving founder of Freedom Inc. Political Club, the organization which paved the way for US to be able to have become elected officials and or candidates in this city and you were not there to pay your respect . Hopefully, if you were NOT present you at least sent a card or letter of condolence to his family.

WE must never be too busy to show respect to OUR ANCESTORS. Don't give me that I had to work crap either. You could have come and signed the guest book at least.Don't tell me you didn't know when the service was either, it was in the newspaper and on social media. There were Hispanic and non-African American elected officials; candidates and former office holders present to pay their respect today. One was on a cane but he was there. President Barack Obama; Congressman Cleaver; Governor Jay Nixon; U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill paid their respects but not you.A St. Louis elected official also sent a letter. It was dully noted who was NOT present by numerous people, so don't t think it was just me who noticed. No I am NOT the funeral police but you younger generation(s) must do better.

Let's pretend that if Freedom, Inc. did not exist that there'd never be any Black elected officials. Outside of Kansas City nobody has ever heard of Freedom, Inc. Rosa Parks never uttered one word about Freedom, Inc. Martin King, Marcus Garvey, Malcolm. The only thing friend stands for is social networking - and the constant in-fighting, leadership change over, Sex-capades, selling Black, and constant targeting of Black people for their personal agenda is no success story.

  7. Rosemary Lowe should be dead too. Tell me when that old bitch is gone!

When you sellout the Black voters, endorse only certain candidates and not the best candidates, then a political candidate cannot be part of the economics of Freedom, Inc. What respect is owed when you're not on the Freedom ballot nor participated in any of their functions. The way I see it, Freedom, Inc has always been for sale - and like any other product, if you have no use for it - you don't buy. There would be Black elected officials without Freedom, Inc. St. Louis managed to do it, Oak Grove did it this year and so much more.

  11. Stupid, OLD bitch, just bitching to be bitching. She's so worried about getting disrespected, well, if she only knew how little respect of any kind NIGGERS engender in the general public, she would simply shit the fuck up.

  12. Curls was like most early civil rights leaders who then made their living at it -- they become GRIFTERS. And then their kids follow in the new family business.

Freedom Inc is a joke. It is simply a bunch of Crooks and Criminals hiding behind a once righteous cause.

Freedom Inc needs to GO AWAY. Too bad it won't be buried with Curls.

  14. Mrs. Rosemary Lowe was elected August 7, 1962 as the Democratic 14th Ward Committeewoman in Kansas City, Missouri, this election made her the first African American woman to hold the post in the city. Though Mrs.Lowe is a long time Freedom Inc. member, she is NOT listed as a founder of Freedom Inc. in the incorporation papers filed. I have respect for Mrs. Lowe and her lengthy years of community service in Kansas City, Mo. However, there was a member founding member of Freedom Inc. and she was mentioned in remarks at the funeral service. To learn more about the history of Freedom Inc. I refer you to the following:
UMKC English Professor Emeritus, Dr. Robert Farnsworth's biography " Leon Mercer Jordan: The Founder of Freedom Inc. Following in the Footsteps of His Father and Grandfather"; "Freedom Now" documentary produced by Emiel Cleaver and a recent Howard University Ph.D dissertation written by a Kansas City, Missouri resident.

  15. I heard niggers chopped up their dead and made them into stew after removing the deceased's intestines and huffing their flatus.

    Maybe they weren't hungry.

  17. As you can see if you read this blog, there is still a need for Freedom, Inc.

    BTW, Ms. Brooks is correct.

  19. I thought a funeral was a place to honor the deceased. Didn't realize it was all about "being seen" and that attendance would be taken.

If people don't want to come, that's their business. False faces showing fake emotions cheapens one's legacy, not honors it. Nobody should be guilted into attending a funeral.

  20. Black just don't have enough community leaders. However, there are enough blacks for anyone.

  21. She's not relevant anymore and want to be. At it's core - funerals celebrate the life of the deceased, it's not a political affair. She wants to make it a political affair. She's welcome to attend the funeral, but don't assume for other people. Love, death, illness ... those are personal matters, you can't think for people. Shut up woman!!

There is no need for Byron or Freedom Inc in this world today. Both are nothing but losers of the highest quality.

White people believing that Black people need to be led and sold to the lowest bidder is part of the problem. Here's where I have to disagree with you Byron - being a Black person and all. Freedom, Inc is not needed. In this case - mind your own business. It's racists to assume that groups like Freedom, Inc. were even remotely helpful to the Black experience. The politicians that presented to Curl's funeral benefited greatly from the Freedom, Inc. It wasn't that Freedom did anything great for the community.

Ms. Sanders Brooks also benefited from the Freedom, Inc. economic system. That's why she went. She believes. The people that do not have every right to not go or acknowledge his death. He was just a man and of no real significance. Even the real estate lawsuit was a personal agenda - it benefit no others but himself. Blacks like to enlarge their contributions beyond that which is reasonable or truthful.

Lady is a stretch. Emiel Cleaver is Emmanuel Cleavers son. Just because people write books doesn't mean they bear any truth. Writing books is about making money not delivering truth. Nice try, though.

  26. Shit! If there was respect shown great! But not for the political club co-founded by Mr. Curls.

Freedom was crapped on by the likes of Kiki Curls And Clinton Adams.

  27. Sharon has a lot of critics but I'll tell you what, at least she is staying involved. Good for her to let people know that OUR history demands respect.

  31. 5:41 -- "OUR HISTORY" demands respect?

    That statement is inherently RACIST...

However, WHICH HISTORY? The unarguable FACTS? Or the fairy tale narrative that says Curls and his progeny are anything but LEACHES ON SOCIETY.

I DO RESPECT HISTORY -- NO FAIRY TALES...

  32. +1 1:35pm. Somebody that clearly understands Black politics. Most of the history is made up romanticism. And the parts that are true - never get told.
