Message From Toni Bones To Her Supporters
I promise I will explain more soon but I wanted to at least put this out there. I have only just got back home . . . While I clumsily try to put all the pieces back together, I can't tell you how grateful, stunned and humbled knowing how many people cared about me when I felt more afraid, helpless and isolated than I have ever known. I was unsure when I would be out and getting no information from the COs. All I could think about outside of the awful experiences I was watching unfold in front of me to other people were my babies that I could not get to.
I will never be the same... I can never adequately express to you the gratitude and appreciation I have for those who have voluntarily stepped up to help my family in such a financially and emotionally devastating, unexpected and traumatic time. A lot of them I have not yet had the pleasure to meet even probably in financial situations not unlike mine..
So many have reached out and even continue to help a complete stranger, others a treasured friend but none of them had to do what they did and I'm bluntly in shock.
I got to know perhaps fifty others in the same scary situation, some 'innocent' and others not, without the support am receiving or the smiles my future will hold because of it...
So many different kinds of people from different worlds...but they were all people just like you and me. They felt the same hunger, fear, pain and helpless feelings that you or I would..
This 'punishment' brings out the humanity most of us in ways impossible to describe to right now and my heart breaks for those left behind, I can't help it.
My stomach turns before even trying to fathom what kind of horrors are happening within our 25% of the world's prison population... 4% of the human population...78% nonviolent... many or most shunned or disregarded by our society all together.. I'm so lucky.
Everyone donating, sharing or just sending positive energy our way I feel eternally indebted to. You guys helped me at a time I don't know that I would have said I deserved it and couldn't do for myself.
Invest in yourselves, empower one another... We are the resistance...

ReplyDeleteSome of the highlights I remember from being in jail for renovating a house in northeast Kansas City include: bologna sandwiches on white bread with mustard ( I did not eat it.), non-stop BET television which could never be changed or turned off, phones that only called land lines and everything felt sticky and dirty. Also most importantly most of the women in there had called the police because of domestic violence and then they ended up being the one's that were arrested. Thanks for the trip down memory lane Toni!

We have all made mistakes, but come on, that is going to look really bad in court in my opinion. There were fires, gunshots, some folks were killed a few blocks away, cops were shot at, it was as unstable a situation as your life is.
You are caught up in the drama and excitement to such an extent that you can't focus on normal things. It is understandable and if you think it is that important, skip your custody court date and hand the kids over to their fathers to raise.
People have to travel their own paths and usually, at some point, you look back with a lot of regrets. People on this blog, are telling you, that for what it is worth, you will look back and wonder what the fuck you were thinking.
