TKC EXCLUSIVE AND BREAKING NEWS!!! PAID IN FULL: CELEBRATE THE KANSAS CITY ELECTION 2015 CASH LEADERS!!!

Counting other people's money is Kansas City tradition and tonight we do it better than any other media outlet in town.

To wit . . .

THE LAST KANSAS CITY CAMPAIGN FINANCE REPORTS CAME DUE TODAY BEFORE THE PRIMARY AND TONIGHT WE CHECK WHO STAYS WINNING THE CASH GAME BEFORE THE VOTES ARE COUNTED!!!

Insiders warned us that cash would be tight in this election and they weren't playing around. Just like the real world: All of the money was distributed to the top 1% of candidates and everybody else had to fight over scraps.

What's important to remember is that even among the low cash candidates . . . There's still a race to to make it to the primary that could be won on shoe leather, elbow grease and so-called grassroots support which is claimed by all candidates without cash . . . i.e. almost everybody.

The surprises: Councilman Glover finally seems to be taking campaigning seriously and he pulled out a major coup by winning his cash contest handily.

Jay Hodges doubled the total put forth by Teresa Loar in a match that pits unions against high society.

Big bucks from Rep. McManus in the 6th has ruffled a great many feathers.

Now, what we've don here is just provide the ENDING MONEY ON HAND totals which we believe signals the strength of a candidate because it not only provides a cash total but also shows upward potential after the primary . . . This number has long been a consistent indicator of success used by newsies and pollsters throughout the region.

We didn't bother looking or listing who gave cash because in the end it's only winning and money that count. Feel free to drop any tidbits in the comments or e-mail and we'll maybe check them out.

  6. All the reason to stay at home this election. Is there any dirty judges that need to be voted out , maybe dirty judges is the new thing to focus on now that suicides are like whooping cough in Jefferson city

  7. Just take a look at the candidates with six-figure war chests. They've shown they are bought and paid for and if you didn't contribute, you're not on their radar.
And for those in the 3rd and 5th Districts, just take those totals and write checks to Freedom Inc and Gwen Grant over at the Urban Summit. They'll spend most of the money on themselves, as usual, and you'll get only a handful of votes, but you'll have played the same old east side KCMO game that's gone on now for decades.
Oh, and don't forget...they and you are both all about change.

  8. We can see getting shot is an option in politics around here still. So there is some integrity to staying alive. On the other hand to blame Stand Up KC for not knocking on doors to register voters when there's plenty of money to hire experienced Get Out The Vote Professionals lends us to believe there's plenty of money for Police Overtime and PTSD Therapy when we hit Civil Unrest Season

  19. The money people in this town seem to have arrived at the terrifying realization that Jim Glover is all that stands between what is left of the City Treasury and Katheryn who painted random people on the ceiling of the County Courthouse at public expense. Really Katheryn? Really?

I had hoped that Jared Campbell had put together an experienced campaign team to launch a real campaign; and he did not.

  20. Thats the wrong approach to make a city awesome, if you live in any community of any size you should be involved with it in every way you can, with your voice, with your vote, and with a drive to make your city the best it can be, not just because it happens to be the "zip code or ward,or district you happen to land in when you bought that house or rented that loft or apartment, get involved and try to make a difference in you community if you dont, you have no right to complain about anything in you city or town if you aren't actively being apart of any for of the change that causes your complaint.

  21. 11:06 , you might want to stay up with current news - Louis Wright was a Lawyer, a fire union ex -president (who looked like a exact replica of "beaker Off the muppets") but anywho
When I hear his name I think douche, because some of you need to get over that shit and move on and douche your brain because in a someways the fact you even think about the prick, that dude still has power over you and yet he is gone! New Union Pres, same bullshit same ideas, same All American Politics.

  22. 12:06 great speech bro, it was light heartening, but the truth is people dont give a shit man! look around, the few that do are trying so hard to make change the cant even understand what the fuck that means, change and power only comes in numbers, if you don't have the numbers to make a majority change, the winning numbers are the few that had a small interest and then realized they can take full advantage of the fact most people don't give 2 shits!! If you want to see change in anything first you have to be honest about that change and then you have to recruit a army of honest people to back that up, politics isn't honest and most people have given up, they realize life is short and they don't want to spend their life trying to change what decades of politicians have done a great job of fucking up!

  23. It's too bad McManus got so much money from the idiots that thought he might actually fill out his term in Jeff City.

  24. Our USAF recon Dad stressed our duty to vote in all elections...these are viewed by so very many lately as votes not truly counted...hanging chads...Diebold funny biz computer glitch...I keep believing in my vote is counted...but, harder by the day.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Louie Wright IS the reason the city blames 42 for it's problems. He screwed them over and talked about it. He was voted out because he was a self serving prick that didn't give a shit about anyone but himself. We cannot actually be thinking about voting for him again?
