Last night we reported that 2nd District City Council Candidate Teresa Loar earned overwhelming support for her FAIR CAMPAIGN PLEDGE drafted in the wake of a City Council ordinance lamenting the death of Missouri Auditor Tom Schweich.

Fair Campaign Pledge
Teresa,
I apologize for this coming to you so late in the day on a Friday but the work day has been very busy and I have not had time to address this until now. I am sure you understand.
It is my understanding that you have a Fair Campaign Pledge that you would like me to sign. I looked through my emails and did not see an email concerning this topic but truthfully I rather like the idea. I agree with you 100% that campaigns should be about ideas and vision. However, I also truly believe that campaigns should be about character of candidates.
In the spirit of this idea, I took the liberty of re-typing what I could see online (if there is an error in my typing, please forgive it). I did have some edits which I am sure you will not mind as the spirit of the pledge remains. A signed digitally copy is attached and eagerly I await a returned signed copy from you.
I look forward to a spirited exchange of ideas in the coming weeks.

Is this the best the second district has to offer? A retread and the mayor's gofer? We need to start thinking about cultivating better people to run for office or KC is going to remain in a mess for a long time.

ReplyDeleteThey might as well be civil. After all they are running for the 'at large' seats, as opposed to the real seats. These at large seats are undemocratic & should be challenged in court! I'm surprised that no one has ever done this.

ReplyDeleteYou know shields is running for office when something like a piac reps nude photos were found. What's next? I don't even like Glover and would never vote for him but this is a stretch . I hope he has never left a skid mark in his underwear because I expect to see a pic of them in my mailbox soon. I would think anyone could match any sort of accomplishment with him and prevail.
