While Kansas City mainstream media wants to show nothing but good times and big crowds during the Big 12. There's a raging online controversy regarding another P&L District tactic.
To wit . . .
THIS WEEKEND KANSAS CITY MAINSTREAM MEDIA DIDN'T REPORT A MASSIVE BRAWL NEAR THE P&L DISTRICT THAT RESULTED IN MULTIPLE PEOPLE EJECTED FROM THE PARTY DISTRICT!!!
Sure, bar fights are common but this one was HUGE from what KICK-ASS TKC TIPSTERS are telling us . . .
Additionally, here's an excerpt of online discussion of this brawl that is garnering civic-minded voters to take note . . .
"I was at THE P&L DISTRICT this Saturday and was put in a headlock dragged out, for approaching a situation I felt was unfair.
"2 security guys were on a guy on the ground, 1 by some by-standers perhaps the guy on the ground's buddies. Those bystander/buddies happened to have one that was attempting to take footage of the event... when that extra security guy was tampering with his ability to catch the footage. I approached that security guy to mention how I thought that was wrong and next thing I know I am put into a chokehold and am being dragged out by this security guy for potentially little or no reason.
"I have marks over my back, under my arms, some on my chest, a bit tongue, and soreness from the whole incident . . .
"I am just worried, although my incident was inconvenient and not civil... that there may be other security guards using their power to practice ill-conceived actions."
And thing brings the question forth . . .
SHOULD P&L DISTRICT BOUNCERS HAVE THE RIGHT TO USE THE CHOKE HOLD WHEN POLICE ARE NOT ALLOWED TO USE THAT TACTIC?!?!?
The choke hold is a controversial move and most urban police ban the maneuver . . . Meanwhile, as downtown entertainment districts gets rougher . . . It's clear bouncers are having to "step up their game" and patrons should be warned that their risks now include security allegedly using tactics that most municipalities have declared out of line.

I doubt that the bouncers used choke holds. Not every take down method using an arm around the neck is a choke hold. The cop who took Eric Garner to the ground was not using a choke hole, or Garner would not have been able to utter a word. Most likely the bouncers used the same around the neck take down that the cop used on Garner - not a choker.

ReplyDeleteThis same thing happened to a friend of mine a few weeks ago. The lesson is DO NOT INTERFERE! The security-popo will take it as a hostile gesture and you will lose big on fine and charges. ADVICE- if the security is on someone (especially if it is unfair or uncalled for) GET YOUR PHONE OUT AND RECORD THE WHOLE THING. This is absolutely the only way to show what really happened and let justice in CK's court prevail.
