CONDI IN KANSAS CITY!!!

The former U.S. SecState shares a bit of insight to a packed house of local politicos . . .

In KC, Condoleezza Rice warns of international erosion without U.S. defense

In other words, the U.S. will continue to be the world's policeman so . . . The international "Hands Up, Don't Shoot" concern kinda makes sense now.

First, have you noticed that whenever you go to the KC Star web site now it pops up some bullshit login screen and won't let you see the article, then if you blow past that it shows you a bunch of other articles but you can't find the one you linked from? I hate their fucking site.

So I can't comment intelligently on what Condi said. I just wanted to say - -

Second, I think Condi is awesome. She takes no crap, is smart as hell, and is the woman I would vote for president in a heartbeat. I deeply regret that she is WAAAAY too smart to run.

  4. If Condi's still looking for that mushroom cloud she talked so much about, she sure came to the wrong place here in KC.
Kale, yes. Not many mushrooms, though.

  7. Curt Schilling did what most fathers would do when his daughter was under social media attack. He spoke out, and in doing that, the worst perpetrators felt real-world consequences for their actions. He has a loud, public forum, and he used it to protect his family.

The reaction to his speaking out was swift. One man was fired from his job as a part-time ticket seller with the Yankees for his vile tweets. Another was suspended from his university for using just as despicable language.

Both men deserved their fates. Attacking anyone online is hurtful and not easy to ignore when tweets and Facebook messages start rolling in.

Four years ago, a comedian and sports commentator disagreed with something I wrote. He called me a lewd name publicly, and his many fans and followers inundated me with hate. I could not get away from the emails, tweets and Facebook messages. Rape threats, death threats, questions about my femininity and sexuality — I heard it all. I came close to quitting my dream job as a sportswriter because of what this man did to my life.

This man didn’t lose his job. He barely apologized, instead calling me a different lewd name that he judged to be “less offensive.”

Personally, I found great satisfaction that the trolls who went after Schilling and his family were fired and suspended from school because I knew it could finally be what changes a social media climate that allows for people to not think twice before hitting “tweet.”

Real world consequences are the only deterrent to people who find a release in going after complete strangers. Suspending accounts doesn’t work because a resourceful troll — as so many are — can just start a new email address and new account. Other users stepping in and defending the victim generally just emboldens trolls to step up their attacks.

But having to explain to your friends and family that you lost that sweet job as a part-time ticket seller with the Yankees because you made disgusting comments about Curt Schilling’s daughter? That’s something that sticks. That’s something that should make the next troll stop before hitting send (and hopefully consider therapy.)

  8. Wilson cleared by rabid leftist DOJ, which wanted to do ANYthing in the world except clear Wilson.

Does that mean grand juries aren't evil, after all?
