CHECK OUR LATEST TKC MEGAPOST CHRONICLING ONGOING KCPS BLIGHT JUST BLOCKS AWAY FROM THE UPCOMING TOY TRAIN STREETCAR LINE!!!

The reality here is that politicos are always good for promises during election time but one fruitless planning session follows the next and a myriad of empty schools still litter the neighborhoods of Kansas City along with a great many empty houses . . .

Here's an up-close & personal look at the tragedy of KCPS re-purposing for voters tempted to believe people running for office during election season

In 1988, America was the best place to be born in the world.

Fast forward 25 years or so... and The United States now ranks 16th, just above South Korea and just below Taiwan and Belgium.

  3. Yes thanks to gen internet we've managed to become an exceptional 16th.

  4. But isn't this supposed to become one of those affordable market rate apartment things. $1700 a month for a tiny one bedroom type of deal?

  7. Tony, it would be so impressive if you put on a bid and took one down. Then, you could bring some of your equity in and redevelop the building into one of community pride.

YES, IY WOULD BE GREAT FOR YOU TO DO THAT.

I better stop drinking this early in the day.

And that is why we are at 16. Too many people content to sit on their ass all day, rather than adding to the GNP.

  8. Don't let some ugly photographs deter you. We are going to discuss the fate of Thacher tonight at the Indian Mound Neighborhood Association meeting; 6:30 p.m. at Calvary Temple, 5612 St. John Ave.

We are holding a planning meeting on Feb 23 (location TBD) before we make our case to the KCPS school board on the Feb 25th. Make no mistake, the residents of Kansas City's east side communities don't just *want* the blighted schools in their neighborhoods to be repurposed, they *need* them to be. I've been pitching this idea with overwhelmingly positive response for the past year. I recognize the difficulty that it poses, but it is in the city's and school district's best interests to do this for a number of reasons.

I'll leave it at that for now. If you want to know more, like "Save Thacher, Save Our Schools," on Facebook, look for our announcement for the Feb 23 meeting, and plan to attend the school board meeting next Wednesday.

  9. And the mostly-federally funded Streetcar project has WHAT, exactly, do to with the School District?

    Oh....nothing?

Also, Stalder, if you use Esq. and you're not a lawyer, people might think you're misrepresenting yourself as a lawyer, or practicing law without a license. or just kind of a douche.

    Which one is it?

Also if the the meeting will honestly discuss getting that dump torn down once and for all, I'll be there. Otherwise, no.

  10. Tony will be there with his $7.28 in change.

He wont do anything, but he will take pictures and criticize the efforts of others.

Man, to be happy with that kind of day.

  11. All the developers are wintering in the Virgin Islands right now. Maybe a few will put in a bid on the school if the tax incentives and subsidies are attractive enough. Or buy it so they can hold everyone hostage to an empty lot because it gives them a tax write off.

  26. There was a great plan to develop this site about 10 years ago but the whiny whiny Westside killed it because it would have made the neighborhood "too dense", which is to say, about half as dense as it was when it was a nice, functioning urban neighborhood.
