Kansas City attorney Clinton Adams is UNDEFEATED and stands 2-0 in his election battles over residency. Freedom, Inc. had targeted the 5th District At-Large as a council seat they wanted back and Clinton Adams was the key force in organizing a voting record complaint among local ministers aimed @ TGR. For quite some time now, Freedom, Inc. has enjoyed a resurgence and this initial victory in the 5th At-Large race should remind locals that they remain one of the most dominant forces in urban core politics.

Terry Riley's consulting group is off to a STRONG start with this early victory. The mild mannered former councilman showed his fierce side in this behind the scenes battle as a dust up with TGR's "big dude" at Truman Days didn't inspire former Councilman Riley to back down BUT INSTEAD encouraged him to lead the charge and tout a challenger.
Council Contender Lee Barnes, Jr.
He's running on his longstanding involvement with his community and with an encouraging endorsement from Northland Group Forward Kansas City it's clear that Mr. Barnes can connect with the entire metro.

Her renting to TGR now seems . . . Strange . . . To say the least . . . AND she was just on the wrong side of this issue. Rumor has it she "saw the light" but it was way too late to save her reputation as one of the worst Council members in KCMO history.

We hear these guys are deservedly mad for getting stuck with TGR fail . . . This weakens their endorsement roster for the moment and they'll have to play nice to get on the right side of this . . . Which isn't their strong suit.

So, we won't get our first Latina council member this election cycle. And after John Fierro is beat down, the closest the local Latino community will come to representation on the City Council is downwind of MO State Sen. Jolie Justus after Taco Tuesday.

Again, her political mentor is nowhere to be found today . . . Crystal was also a "reformer" but seemed more interested in moving up the political ladder than actually doing her job. Now the legacy and promises of "cleaning up" local government seem to be nothing more than a bad joke with reps who pulled out too early to consummate the punch line for Kansas City area voters.

ReplyDeleteAny way you look at it TGR is not ready to serve. There is too much temptation for corruption once you get there and you must be strong enough and ethical enough to resist it. She started out her journey under false pretenses and that can only lead to more in the future if she was elected. In that regard I think the 5th District is a winner. Freedom doesn't give a crap about ethics, they just wanted someone black. Fortunately, Lee Barnes seems to be a good guy. The 5th and 3rd have always had people who have residency questions trying to run.
ReplyDeleteConsidering Cindy Circo may have been a party to campaign fraud this issue isn't over is it? She is in office and if she was a party to fraud it should be determined. TGR may be able to withdraw to avoid prosecution but Circo may have already made false statements about her residency with the intent to participate in campaign fraud or whatever the crime may be. As an elected official these charges should be followed through on. If Circo, like TGR, is lacking in ethics we have a right to know as voters who elected her to office. She may want to run for office again some day.
