TKC EXCLUSIVE AND BREAKING NEWS!!! FEAR THE RISING TIDE OF KANSAS CITY WATER INFRASTRUCTURE TAXES!!!

Amid the election cycle and this dreary Sunday, mainstream media is burying news about rising taxes in Kansas City.

However . . .

KICK-ASS TKC TIPSTERS SEND US PROOF OF WATER LEVIES SOON TO RATES (AGAIN) THIS YEAR AMID ANOTHER SHADY ELECTION UNDER CONSIDERATION!!!

Here's the ordinance just made public not too long ago . . .

Ordinance #150024: Calling an election on June 23, 2015, for the purpose of submitting to the voters of Kansas City a question amending the existing stormwater fee to allow the City Council to review and set (decrease/keep the same/increase) the stormwater fee; directing the City Clerk to notify the responsible election authorities of the election on or before April 14, 2015; and recognizing this ordinance to have an accelerated effective date as provided in Section 503 of the City Charter.

Context . . .

Remember that this new tax ask floats to the surface in the aftermath of the Mayor James "reform and repair" initiative that clearly didn't put enough cash aside to deal with storm water problems despite big promises of as much.

Sadly, this is simply part of steadily increasing expenses that are spiking the cost of living in Kansas City and the myth of cowtown affordability that is often marketed toward clueless hipsters and those who would dare believe real estate hype.

Developing . . .

  1. Here's your better title TKC.

KC is sinking down to Detroit's level.

  2. Fuck, no! Until the City submits to an audit of the water department, any new anything pertaining to City water will be voted down. The more than 10,000,000 the City passed last year for the water department wasn't sufficient to get their shit together? They can forget voters supporting the notion that they need more money for their water services. The water ain't that great!

  3. Rising water bills have been one of the most under reported stories in KC. A short time ago mine was about $40 every two months. Now it's close to $60 every month. Of course it didn't help that the city decided on monthly billing instead of bimonthly billing and added a service fee allegedly because customers were demanding monthly billing.

I expect to see a bullshit fee added to the sewer part of the bill any day now.

  4. Water has increased 400% over the past decade, and in that span, we've passed $1B worth of water bonds. We've seen our rates climb from $40ish every two months to $80ish *every* month.

I've bragged about the unbelievablly cheap real estate in Northeast to friends living in Independence, but they pointed out the difference in utility rates; specifically water, and it's unreal how much higher it is in KC.

  5. Ditto to all those above. Water Services prices have been increased exponentially!!! No tax increases until a State audit. That's final.

  6. Why don't I trust one single thing Sly and this "City Council" get their noses into at this point?

I really sicerely want to like these people but............

    that ain't happening

  7. Racket, frauds, and swindles.

    When does it end?

  8. why dont this city leaders spend some of the toy train money on the water and sewer problems instead of trying to ram the toy train on us. this would help the senior citizens if they keep rate hikes the senior and poor are going to be eating dog food

  9. All Water/Sewer employees are called upon to rise up and expose the management. Lets do a walk up to Leeds office and demand him to step down. If anything why don't the whole dept. just quit in disgust.

  10. The Water Dept is a hell of a racket.

  11. Why doesn't the city pays these costs out of all that money generated by Union Station, the Jazz Museum, the Negro Ball Museum, Sprint Center, Sports Stadiums, Zona Rosa Revenue, Hotel taxes, Taxi Taxes, Car Rental Taxes, Water and Utilities taxes. Surely the city didn't build all this shit and create all these taxes with the intention of the city never making a a dime in revenue? Say it isn't so. So what the hell is the city doing getting into all these businesses the don't offset other expenses to the citizens? I guess it doesn't matter cause the same dumb asses will elect the same crooks right back into office again.

  13. My water bill has quadrupled. I pay 160 per month for a family of four. There are no leaks, no excessive usage. Folks in Raytown, who buy their water from Kansas City, pay 40 per month. The guy who installed the new water meter a few years ago told me what a racket KC water is. This department MUST be audited. Vote NO for any more tax increase. Sly James is full of empty promises and trickery.

  14. The under qualified, over paid city executives and their endless back room deals can't be the reasons cities are crumbling under our feet. You know the off the top $$ built-in to contracts and spread around to low level politicos.

I recommend watching the show Broadway Empire. Not much difference today in Kansas and Missouri city governments. Sly and Mayor Rev Scam Artist in KCK get reelected to keep us in our place. Water is a racket, not a right.

  15. This can't happen. How will we continue Byron's standard of living?

  16. Once again, somebody makes an excellent point - All of the suburbs surrounding Kansas City paying for Kansas City water enjoy drastically lower rates on water. Meanwhile, with the e-tax and every other kinda tax - hotel, car rental, 1/2 cent there and another 1/4 cent here, plus income tax, we can't seem to get a break on basic service such as water which usually is the least expensive of all the utilities combines. How the hell does my gas bill come in lower than water? I cannot understand why the FBI has not escorted one or more of the Council people out of City Hall straight into prison. They can ask the question about voters approving whatever they want but the answer will be the same - NO.

I can't afford dog food. I understand it is very nutritious. I live only on my monthly social security check and have only enough money so I have to eat the human food sold by Aldi.

So, the real question is are you hayseed rubes gonna fork over another 1% of your hard earned dollars and fall for the e-tax scam again?

I'm guessing yes, because dumb motherfuckers who voted for it last time will remain dumb motherfuckers.

  19. The other options are reducing your expenses, getting a higher paying job, or getting a second, third, and fourth job.

  20. Nothing, absolutely fucking nothing for the water department until they are audited. And not some half assed audit either--at least the same intensity as the Hickman Mills School District audit a couple of years ago.

  21. Choo Choo's and Cindy's soccer fields cost money. There will never be enough tax funds to cover to the costs of pet projects of Progressives and city maintenance. Keep Sly and the rest of the city slickers in business and stop crying about how bad thing are. You haven't seen nothing yet.

No e-tax in Kansas and look at the mess from 30 year tax breaks.

Fools get ready to enter the Payday loan market to pay your water bills.
