Regarding Harrah's Kansas City Bad Luck

A good read regarding news that KICK-ASS TKC TIPSTERS put on blast last night: Chips are down for its owner, but Harrah's North Kansas City rolls on - Kansas City Business Journal Here's an important summary from a Kansas City Insider:

"The 800 jobs are likely ok, or at least most of them. The bigger issue is all the small local companies that provided NKC with goods and services that are screwed. Harrah's is a big acct and you don't run up that kind of debt without spending a lot of money you don't have which means those small companies are on the hook. I could easily see Harrah's cut 100 jobs maybe and be bought while 100-200 are lost from local companies that had to file Chapter 11 because they had to pay employees and front the goods for Harrah's and now won't be reimbursed."

  5. With their horrible service, who can blame gamblers for avoiding Harrah's. The absolute worst treatment of persons playing High Limit that I have seen anywhere in the country. Gambling is all about the feeling of "exclusivity" and Harrah's is horrible at that.

  6. Glad to see KCBJ catching up. They need to chase down some suppliers as well - printers, food vendors, media... Meanwhile, The Star continues to snooze. But they DID have a nice piece this afternoon on Spin Pizza.

Could it be that Harrah's owes the Star a ton of ad money and the Star does not want to risk pissing them off?

  7. A gaming company in Missouri that goes bankrupt is too huge of a security risk to have a gaming license in this state. I mean for Christ sakes the state spends forever doing background investigations on ten dollar an hour casino employees and if they aren't squeaky clean and have great credit they don’t get a license. So why the fuck should any bankrupt casino operation be less of a risk?|

  9. Casino's were the rage that was going to bring on the new Era Of Prosperity. And now we worry about vendor's not getting paid? These same vedor's got paid for twenty years and the final shipment represents a total loss to the economic system.

  11. I once went to a job fair put on by the city and Harrahs was a key company there, I spoke to an individual (minority business developer) about minority business contracts, he asked me what other minorities could bring to the table that he wasn't getting from the "black community" I said how about diversity? He told me according to the law, his Casino was being diverse. I spoke to that man perhaps twice since then, in both cases he brought local black business developers to my table and in both cases my conversation began and ended with "Diversity doesnt begin and end at the black man / womans doorstep, it is all inclusive and all you are doing now like in the past is bullying people to keep their mouths shut"
I wouldnt spend a dime at that casino
