Kansas City continues to go broke while neighborhoods fight for a dwindling supply of cash.

To wit . . .

CHECK THIS KANSAS CITY ANTI-TAX LIST OF QUESTIONS POSED TO CURRENT COUNCIL CANDIDATES!!!

Among a shrinking pool of voters, it seems that locals tired of increasing levies and spendthrift politicos are stepping up to challenge the status quo.

FRIENDS OF KCI / STOP THE STREETCAR

CFRG has put together some questions for potential City Council Candidates. These are not the only points of interest but we thought it was a good start and might stimulate debate and insight into the thought process, character and ethics of the candidates involved.

Questions for City Council Candidates:

- Would you initiate an ordinance or support an ordinance to audit all the Enterprise Zones in the City. The audits would be preformed every year until a good base line is established and then at least every other year?

- The voters rebuffed streetcar expansion by a 60% to 40 % margin. Do you support expansion of the streetcar with the voters tax dollars when there are so many other needs within the City? If you do support streetcar expansion, how do you envision funding it so it is not a burden on taxpayers?

- Would you support an effort to recover dollars earmarked for the streetcar (like over $2,000,000 of PIAC funds) and return these funds to the neighborhoods they belong in?

- Do you support City Ordinance #140090 giving the voters the right to approve any major construction on any airport owned by the City? What do you see as the proper alignment at MCI for the future?

- Do you believe in providing incentives to keep companies in KCMO?

- Do you feel the City is out of line on the amount of taxpayer dollars we hand over through TIFs, tax abatements and other incentives given to developers and prospective companies?

- How do you feel about a downtown hotel and should the taxpayers fund it with TIF’s, interest free loans, tax abatements, etc.? If you are for a downtown hotel, how do you envision financing it?

- What is your impression of: Common Core? School Choice? What do you think the future direction of the KCMO public schools should be? Do you support the current school board structure?

- How do you feel about the legalization of marijuana? Do you think it will have any impact on the poorer parts of our City where some parents are selling the backpacks of food their children bring home from school; using the money for drugs.

- Do you support the 1% Earnings Tax or would you support eliminating it?

Does anyone know how I can contribute to Katheryn Shields, we gotta get Glover out to there!

  3. Mensa boy doesn't need to do anything. Herf derf is the noise Danny "the great emancipator" Coffee and his band of curmudgeonly old rich white men make every day?

The last question says it all about Danny boys none too thinly veiled racism.

    Clueless Fogies Retards and Grumps.

  4. I've got a money question for the council, do they support Troy Schulte in light of all the wrongful termination judgements the city has paid out? He is one huge asshole and cost the city millions.

  5. Definitely stop the street car. That is a train wreck waiting to happen. Better transit? Yes. Street car as the solution? No.

  7. "Do you support the imaginary magical mystery bus system that we promised would be like, totally better than the transit systems that every other major and mid-sized metro in the country uses and that we repeatedly promised to present to voters 'just as soon as' the streetcar expansion vote was defeated?"

Yeah, neither do we! Suckerz! Enjoy your underfunded bus system and the lowest per capita transit investment of any city of our size in the nation! Just make sure the Ward Parkway corridor streets get unecessarily repaved evry 3 years!

    Mwoohahahhahaha!
    Your welcome Rex!

  8. You'd think Mensa boy would know the difference between your and you're, but having a high IQ and being teachable are two different things.

  9. 9:37 you do understand that spell check sometimes overrides what you type. Plus I really doubt too many spend a lot of time proof reading what they say here. But one can see you're (notice I used correct one) a sad douche of a person who loves pointing out the little things in ones life and trying to make them look bad while you sit in a trailer across from Bones.

  10. The "B" in Mensa Boy should be capitalized, dipshit. It's a proper noun the way you are using it.

  11. City Council and mayor won't answer real questions, they only want to be reinforced so they can keep looting the taxpayers. I wish we had someone besides Sly to vote against.

  12. 11:06: The "B" in boy should not be capitalized. Mensa is an organization, so it merits the capital and is used here as an adjective to define which boy we're referring to. In your case we wouldn't need to capitalize dipshit, since that is not referring to a specific organization, so dipshit boy is perfectly adequate in your case.

And 10:05, I've yet to see a spell check program that would override a correctly spelled word.

  13. 12:16 is incorrect. His reaction is typical of upper middle class white male overconfidence/overcompernsation.

  14. How many times you going to brick that 621?

  15. Sounds like the city needs someone like Sam Brownback to come in and clean up the waste and tighten the cities belt a tad.
