Fear The Kansas City Citizens Association Council Screenings Overnight!!!

Tonight the CA is talking to City Council candidates again and getting together their list of endorsements.

The pace is faster tonight and the candidates seem to realize that the time for the primary is almost at hand.

There are folks who doubt the power of the CA to influence with their endorsement but these folks are actually the ones who tell the newsies what to think and influence most of the local discourse or at least a reaction to it.

It's easy to tell who the CA responds to and who they reject. The small group of power players likes a polished presentation but they also relish the BORING deets of finance and muni-policy rules and regs.

With limited voter turnout looking to be abysmal in the coming primary, the CA will play an even greater role and tonight they're the only people in Kansas City putting the candidates on the spot.

We'll have more on tonight's screening but we wanted to post FIRST while dead tree media newsies are still scribbling their notes.

Hopefully, more for the morning update.

If they're 'power players' then why do they call themselves The Citizens Association?

It seems to me the citizens have, & will,'vote none of the above' by not voting.

  4. Byron, furthermore, most of their budget comes from corporate money rather than membership dues. Those who pay the piper call the tune.

  5. They like to focus on those Boring Deets just to make sure that any candidate will continue to carry out the developer-supportive budgeting that robs from the poor to give to the rich.

  7. Endorsement or not, at least they give people an opportunity to hear from the candidates and make up their own mind.
