Blogger Bill Tammeus Talks Faith, Public Education And Kansas Budget Battle

Kansas City newsman legend has an alternative take on the Kansas budget crisis and a recent ruckus over public education funding competition. Mr. Tammeus directs us to a really great link reporting on "Gov. Sam Brownback's destructive tax-reduction program is helping to fuel a battle between public school advocates and those who prefer Christian schools." Here's what the local reporter has to say about the hot mess: Kansas' public-religious school issue: 1-27-15 (Bill's 'Faith Matters' Blog)

  1. No surprise here!

Mr. Tammeus, a former Falling Star employee, does his part to trash Governor Brownback, in keeping with the official journalistic policy of the liberal Kansas City Falling Star.

Of course, no mention is made of the fact that Kansas residents have twice elected Brownback to the Governor's office. This, despite the constant pleadings and active opposition from the Star's out-of-touch lunatic rambling Editorial Board.

Also, please note Mr. Tammeus' word selection in an attempt to slant the article into a public school versus Christian debate.

"..how Gov. Sam Brownback's destructive tax-reduction program is helping to fuel a battle between public school advocates and those who prefer Christian schools."

    and

"On one side are huge numbers of often-poor families who rely on the public schools to educate their children. On the other are pro-Brownback folks who distrust the public schools and want dollars to flow to parochial education. In some ways it has seemed an unfair fight between moneyed people and those without money."

Isn't it really a debate between public schools versus non-public schools ? And "non-public" would include faith-based (Catholic, Christian, Hebrew, Muslim, etc.) as well as private non-religious, charter-type, and home schooling.

So, once again, Mr. Tammeus is acting as a bomb-thrower, attempting to inflame people and divide them INSTEAD of working towards unity and consensus.
