The aftermath of a recent rape report has sent community activists and organizers into action on Kansas City's East side.

An important word about disparity in reax and response in this part of Kansas City
"They're not acting as if it were their child. Black neighborhoods don't get notified that there is a rapist. Had that been Overland Park, Shawnee Mission, Lenexa, Olathe, it would have been all over the news," the victim's mother, who asked us to conceal her identity, said.
(Two weeks later) Kansas City Public School administrators sent a "stranger danger" letter home to parents on Friday.
Suspect description: "Black man between the ages of 24 and 27, about 5’9” tall, smelling of cigarette smoke and wearing a black Carhartt coat."

ReplyDeleteThe difference is that if anything like this happened in those other neighborhoods you mentioned there would have been reports and residents immediately and residents on the lookout for this guy. In east side neighborhoods nobody ever sees anything until something happens to someone in the family and then it's everyone else's fault.

ReplyDeleteNice to hear her admit that people in the suburbs are more competent and caring than those in her part of town. I saw the report on the news, too. What her real beef should be is that the lazy folks running the KCPSD don't do their jobs. Take it up with your own, lady and leave the suburbs out of it. We didn't come to the hood and rape your daughter.
