HERE'S A QUICK TIDBIT ABOUT A TKC DUST-UP WITH KANSAS CITY'S FAVORITE CHRISTMAS ELF COUNCILMAN JERMAINE REED!!!
Here we go . . .
Your least favorite blogger was trying to chat up MO State Sen. Kiki Curls at the recent Freedom, Inc. holiday party thinking that there was a chance that we could get married and maybe the Curls fam legacy might benefit somebody who actually had a bit of political acumen. No dice but she was still friendly and patient with TKC.
And then . . .
Councilman Jermaine Reed walks up and just starts standing around.
I asked him some innocuous question.
He said: "No comment. Always no comment for you."
Councilman Jermaine Reed continued: "I give comments to The Star, The Pitch or even Northeast News. Those are real papers. Your blog is a joke and nobody takes it or you seriously."
TKC didn't disagree.
But here's what made me just a bit testy . . . Nullus.
Councilman Reed said, "You wrote something about my mom. I have taken issue with you since then."
For the past two weeks I've been searching this blog for something, anything I wrote about this guy's mom and I can't find it. I don't even know the name of the Council Dude's mom. Never have. I knew that it probably didn't exist the moment the politico gave the lame excuse and I challenged him on it for just a sec. In retrospect, that was a mistake on my part. Your least favorite blogger gets a bit angsty when accused of journalistic faults I haven't committed . . . Especially when there are so many media sins of which this blog is guilty . . . Up to and including driving some d-bag politico, his wife and his best friend out of town. (Your welcome on that, by the way.)
Anyhoo . . . Consider this a Christmas Eve confessional. We don't intend to apologize for something we didn't do but I am sorry I didn't show my usually bloggy style, grace and politeness balanced by the complete lack of concern for Kansas City political consequences.
That was probably the highlight of my holiday season and maybe not a big deal since Kansas City Council members argue with at least a dozen different people on any given day.
Again, we wish the best to both Councilman Reed and all of the political denizens of City Hall if only because we know they must have it rough when their favorability rating is BELOW that of journalists, bloggers and tax collectors.
Now, stop reading this blog and go ignore your family . . .

That is understandable, but the truth, the truth about people and politics, locally and nationally can be understood and parsed ONLY when there is free unfettered discourse from everyone in a vehicle like this. Everyone.
Jermaine Reed is just another seagull circling the City Hall garbage scow looking for a payday he can muster up because of the color of his skin and the unstated, but obvious threat of violence from his electorate.
You are far more reasonable than most of us Tony. I would have told him to go fuck himself.

ReplyDeleteApparently the good Councilman doesn't realize this "worthless blog" actually breaks news and is really "show prep" for the rest of the electronic and print media in town too lazy and scared to actually go after a hard news story. Props to folks like Ryan Kath at KSHB, Steve Vockrodt at the Pitch and hyper local Bunny the Newshound for having the nads to actually represent The 4th estate.
ReplyDeleteThe Star is a real paper? Sure, it isn't. Ask Reed why Lynn Horsely is officed on the 26th Floor of City Hall rather than at The Star. That paper writes nothing of credible character. The Star really acts like more of a contractor of the City of Kansas City. Nothing more.

ReplyDelete@Chuck, while you might be on track with regard to flack and target, you miss the point that there is so much vile hate here, which takes the form of mean spirited foul discourse, that any small percentage of truth is obscured. To use your metaphor, it serves as smoke over the target.
ReplyDeletePeople tend to reflect a "freedom to" or "freedom from" point of view. I recognize your right to paint swastikas on a sign and post them on your front lawn, if you would try, just for a moment, that it is not about what you CAN do, but rather what you SHOULD do. Admittedly, F-bombing anyone here who doesn't fall into lock step with the culture of anonymous, "I have all the answers from social equity, crime, race, and male superiority" has taken over this blog.
At the same time, Tony should get his mind around be marginalized. Because, like it or not, the anger expressed in this does not reflect a prevailing culture in 2014.

12:09, there are also a lot of people here who are disgusted with the likes of Jermaine Redd, Michael Brooks, and many others who prey on citizens and the system to enrich themselves, indulge their own peccadillos, or otherwise abuse their office. Sift through the hate and you'll find real comments from real people who know what's going on and will talk about it, trying to bring attention to it. The anger expressed here, while condensed, is real.
