UMKC Kangaroo Chancellor Leo Morton Named Kansas Citian Of The Year

Top honor awarded last night to this Kansas City biz and education titan.

Take a look . . .

Kansas Citian of the Year: UMKC Chancellor Morton

Deets and the reason for the award:

"Chancellor Morton agreed to be interim chancellor of UMKC and took the job outright in 2008. At the university, he has helped strengthen ties between the university and the business community. He has worked hand in hand with the chamber on two of the organization's Big 5 goals: making Kansas City the nation's most entrepreneurial city and bringing the UMKC Conservatory of Music and Dance to the Crossroads Arts District."

Meanwhile . . . The biz community celebration is nice but KINDA FORGETS THAT CHANCELLOR MORTON WAS ON THE LOSING SIDE OF FIGHT FOR A DOOMED TRANSLATIONAL TAX wherein his City College connection became rather controversial.

Still . . . The prize is well-deserved and a sign of Kansas City corporate types expanding their horizons.
