No Way Out In Kansas City: Council Dude Ed Ford Can't Solve Kemper Arena Demolition And American Royal Tax Break Crisis

Here's an outgoing City Hall dude admitting that he's confused and doesn't have an answer . . . Which is strangely refreshing: Councilman: Kemper Arena debate has become lose-lose for KC

  1. As stated in a previous post; the lairs and thieves of KCK are waiting for the go sign to welcome the Amer. Royal swells. What KCK crooks need is another shining object to distract us from the truth. KCK citizens are broke, sick and tired of their behind closed doors deals. Star bonds from hell are our claim to fame.

  2. KCK is welcome to the Royal. Maybe we could offload some of our other bright ideas like the P&L and the Magical Mystical Mensa boy Memorial Combination Flying Carpet and Streetcar.

  3. No city in the metro is stupid enough to give millions of dollars to build a stadium for a once a year rodeo. How about we use a pasture and set up some bleachers and call it good.

  4. Sorry 10:11 KCK pays for a seasonal water park, a raccoon house named the Woodlands, bankrupt baseball stadium and yada yada yada. A once a year rodeo would fit right in. The money for the crooks is in the development and maintaining a broke ass amusement falls on the tax payers. As H. Walker, large commissioner said in Aug, KCK is like the former Soviet Union because the non-existent fair grounds didn't get its full take. Only a hundred thousand take to add to the 4 mil plus already missing. Hook up the streetcar to KCK and we'll pay for it too.

  5. The stark truth is that no one gives a flying fuck about the American Royal. That much has been discerned by these negotiations. It's corporate farms and their rights that rule, not the horse show homos or the kids in their cute blue jackets with lots of felt.

  6. The city just needs to let this go. If KCK wants the Royal, fine. They can have them and give them all the 10s of millions of dollars they want for a seasonal event. There's plenty of land out by Legends for them to build and they have a government that loves throwing millions of dollars at rich people just like KCMO.

But as has been stated, no one really cares about the Royal anymore outside of a bunch of billionaires looking for more taxpayer handout. Shit, these rich bastards probably have enough money in their couch cushions to pay for this. But instead, they want to put the load on the backs of people who don't even have a small fraction of the resources and money they do.

It's fucked up. It's bullying. And it's ridiculous. Let the Royal go. I really doubt it will be missed. KCMO already has TENS OF MILLIONS OF DOLLARS going towards the Truman Sports Complex, the P&L, streetcar, the downtown Marriott, just to name a few. KCMO simply cannot afford this.

  7. KCK can't afford it either. We don't want another billionaire boys club project. STOP THE MADDNESS.

  8. Actually, there's plenty of land near the airport. Build the equestrian center up there and save the $ on demoloshing a perfectly fine arena.
