SHOCK!!! KICK-ASS TKC READER BRINGS BACK NEWSPAPER FROM THE FUTURE!!!

We all make mistakes and nobody is perfect . . . Sadly, mainstream media constantly blasts and derides bloggers and the Internets for inaccuracy but rarely offers a look at their own foibles.

To wit . . .

CHECK OUT THIS AWESOME IMAGE OF A FUTURE NEWSPAPER OR JUST A FUNNY KANSAS CITY STAR CONTENT MILL SCREW UP!!!

And, seriously, who pays 2 BUCKS for the newspaper anymore???

A rather AWESOME TKC TIPSTER tells us . . .

"Just wondered if anyone else caught the dead tree media's screw up today. I went to QuikTrip at 106th and Roe and bought 3 newspapers for out of state family. Got home and noticed the paper was dated for tomorrow 10/26/14."

Yes, it's probably just a typo mistake but here @ TKC we're holding out hope that some guy has found himself in the real-life future scenario of Early Edition - Which was the last decent TV show about newspaper before the Internets started killing Dead Tree Media.

  2. ouch.

Paper is really going down hill. Not good for Kansas City at all, I know some might view it with glee but this is bad for everyone when it comes to keeping track of the government.

  3. Every time a KC Star is printed, an innocent tree is murdered.

  4. The Star may go after the Catholic Church and Sam Brownback, but no one has really paid any attention to the antics at KCMO city hall or the Jackson County Courthouse for a very long time.
The stories are all fluff and rah rah for Sly and the gang and the crap that goes on in JaCo isn't reported at all.
    Amateur night on the plains.

  8. I used to catch shit like that all the time. Once I was putting on chasers and when I almost had the second plate on for the the Sunday front page black plate, I noticed that the price was $1 instead of $2. That cost us about a half hour to get fixed.

The Star used to have an incentive for catching mistakes like that. If it was bad like this one is, you'd get $50. I once got $50 because I caught a plate for page 2A that had half the page white. They had a monthly lunch thing going on with the publisher Art Brisbane for the folks who made employee of the month for catching stuff like that and Brisbane asked me how I knew something was wrong with the page and I told him "We're not in the business of selling blank space on pages". He liked that answer.

Nowadays they're told "We don't pay you to read the paper" when you try to bring up a mistake like that.

A real funny one was when the Star, who prints a lot more things than most folks know, printed a run of a free Spanish language rag that you find in stores like the Price Chopper in Northeast. Anyway, the copy is all done by the people that pay the Star to print it and they send it to the Star who makes the plates and then prints it. So the Star prints it for them and the next day the people that contracted the Star to print it discover that the date on every page is off by a week. No one on the crew that printed it or any of the foreman caught the mistake because none of them could speak or read Spanish.

Since the Star only printed what they were given, the folks behind the rag had to pay to re-print it. It was their mistake.

  9. 10:33 everyone who bought a paper from a store got charged $2 it was that or don't get the paper. And in this case it's a piece of history, not so much for the Star's screw up but for the Royals story.
